333w ago - Update: The patch is now available in North America too!

Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment have just released a 13MB file v1.01 patch for Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, which enables Trophy support for the title.

Here are the details on the Trophy system:

-There will be 48 Trophies in Uncharted; 47 Trophies for finding treasures, participating in hand-to-hand or gun combat etc, one platinum Trophy for unlocking all other Trophies
-The Trophies are tied to the medal rewards which already exist in Uncharted
-It's not possible to attain all Trophies in one playthrough
-To earn Trophies, you must start a new game without any medals or rewards unlocked (if Trophies could be earned retroactively, cheating could occur)
-No other additions or changes outside of Trophies are in the patch

Looks like it's time to pop Uncharted back in the PS3.

Sony Taking Action Against Phony Uncharted Airsoft Gun

50°
344w ago - Sony Computer Entertainment is none too thrilled over the fact that online retailer King of Swords is selling an unofficial replica of the Beretta M92F gun featured in PlayStation 3 title Uncharted.

According to a company spokesperson, they will be taking "appropriate" measures against the Web site very soon:

The Drake's Gun is not licensed or in any way sanctioned by SCE and one we certainly do not condone.

We are investigating the source of this product and will proceed with the most appropriate action.

It's worth pointing out that this same retailer is also selling a number of unlicensed swords from the Final Fantasy series.

361w ago - Richard Diamant Interview Part 3: "We Want Melee Objects In The Second Version"

And so we come to the final entry in our three part interview with Naughty Dog's Lead Character Artist, Richard Diamant. It's been a interesting journey of exchanges, from the advantages of Blu-ray, all the way to the meticulous creation of Uncharted's characters.

The final part of our interview explores Uncharted's animation system, filmic inspirations, the possibility of new melee capabilities in the next project, along with Naughty Dog's current relationship with Insomniac.

Please click on these links for the first and second parts of the interview, which saw us touch upon Uncharted's art style, water, character creation process, and Richard's background before joining Naughty Dog.

Patrick: The animation of Drake is extremely impressive - watching him duck bullets, flinch from explosions, and show expressions on his face is a sight to behold. Can you explain your animation system in more depth?

Richard: Our animation system is actually very impressive. It allows us to layer animation on top of each other. That means the animators can animate a walk cycle, then an upper body duck animation, another upper body flinch animation, and then our engine can blend them all...

No blood on Uncharted for Japanese PS3 owners

50°
370w ago - Owners of Japanese PS3's are reporting that there is no blood in the Uncharted game even though they have purchased the NTSC copy of the game. So it seems as if the censoring is actually being handled by the Japanese console itself.

To quote K0RBEN-DALLAS: I got my US copy of Uncharted today and my PS3 is a 60GB japanese and there is no blood when i shoot the enemys.

Anyone here has a 60GB japanese PS3 with a US copy of Uncharted that can confirm there is blood when shooting enemys? Video below!

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune Demo Back on the World Map!

50°
371w ago - Christophe Balestra, the Co-President Naughty Dog has posted up an update to the Uncharted demo region lock situation. He once again states that the locking was a mistake but the issue has now been fixed and a new demo has been posted of which the whole entire world can play and enjoy.

To quote: Christophe Balestra, here, and I'm Co-President at Naughty Dog. I wanted to give a final update on the Uncharted: Drake's Fortune demo situation.

We're really sorry about what happened and didn't anticipate this at all. We just didn't know people from other territories could connect to the US PLAYSTATION Network Store and download demos ... now we do! We've been too busy working on the game to wrap our head's around the infrastructure of the PSN.

We absolutely did not plan the demo to be region locked. As soon as we figured out the problem existed, Sam Thompson called me and I jumped into my car, drove to the office and fixed it right away. It's an honest mistake and we didn't try to prevent anybody from enjoying the Uncharted demo. I feel even more sorry because most of the people who experienced the problem are in Europe and I'm European myself.

So again, we're really sorry about what happened and it wasn't done on purpose. The good news is it's now...
