Need for Speed World Online Interface is Revealed

50°
286w ago - The official Need for Speed blog (linked above) has been updated with a work-in-progress image of the user interface in Electronic Arts' upcoming action-racing game, Need for Speed World Online. To quote:

When he'd sent the screen I asked him to give me a bit more information about what we're looking at and he was happy to help out:

"Key to the concept of NFS World Online is the user interface which has been built from the ground up to take advantage of the PC architecture. Instead of a traditional console view of a game, we're using a user-selectable gadget interface designed specifically for the PC.

The system allows the gamer to choose which components of the interface they want to add to their game. The gadgets are really flexible and offer a wide range of display options: docked/undocked, floating in the game window or just sitting outside of the game space.

A lot of gamers now have more than one monitor so you could keep the game window entirely clean and then have all the gadgets sit in the other monitor. We think it's about time PC gamers had games that allowed them to arrange their information their way."

The downloadable free-to-play title is being co-developed by EA Black Box and EA Singapore. You can find out more about the MMORG in this [Register or Login to view links]...

That teaser is now available for download. You can find the 436mb download [Register or Login to view links] to the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Get downloading and as soon as we know what all the fuss is about, we'll let you know.

The secret game is, as expected, Lost Planet 2. We knew that the game was coming in 2009, and as is the case with the recently announced Dead Rising 2, we expect it to be a multiplatform title, especially since Lost Planet was eventually released for the PlayStation 3.

So what have we learnt from the trailer? Well there's a whole load of gameplay footage to watch, with the game being powered by Capcom's proprietary engine, the MT-FrameWork 2.0. The game will include significant climate change, meaning that the snow has now melted, revealing lush jungles.

100°
288w ago - According to a roughly translated Japanese Web page (linked above), it has been announced that Namco Bandai's PSP sim game The Idol Master SP will offer some kind of connectivity with PlayStation Home.

To quote: From what we can make out from the article, it seems that during your play-through of Idol Master SP you unlock "rewards" for use in Home.

It also looks as though Home will import avatars from Idol Master judging from the picture

This is a step in the right direction, and hopefully we will see a lot more PSP/Home integration in the future.
