DiscBOOT for Burned PS3 Game Backups on Custom Firmware Out

147w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer deank has released DiscBOOT, a homebrew application that allows PS3 Custom Firmware users to play burned PS3 game backups via BD / DVD run from disc.

Hey there folks! Here is the promised little tool, which will let you play your backups of original PS3 games when burned on DVD/DVD-RW/BD/BDRE discs.

If you're familiar with ebootFIX tools you won't have problems. It will be included in the ebootFIX/MOD package for the next multiMAN FULL version.

The usage is simple and you're provided with instructions once the program completes its job:

1) Drag & Drop to discBOOT.exe the "PS3_GAME" folder of the game you want to play
2) The tool will create a folder with 3 files:

  • PKG for 3.41
  • PKG for 3.55
  • TXT with instructions

3) Burn the game to a disc (PS3_GAME folder...
 

PS3 to Support Sony VPL-VW1000ES 4K Projector via FW Update

147w ago - According to Engadget.com (linked above), the PS3 will support Sony's VPL-VW1000ES 4K Projector stills following a future PlayStation 3 Firmware update, however, moving pictures will still remain out of reach for the time being.

While showing off the new beamer for its Japanese audience at CEATEC today, Sony announced the PS3 will get a firmware update around the beginning of 2012 that will allow it to natively output 4K stills.

There's a PlayView "visual magazine" already available on the PlayStation store in Japan that supports 4K and 3D, but this update will bring super high res viewing of your vacation pics, or any other high res image files you can snag, to the living room.

148w ago - Following up on the Biohazard Revival Selection PS3 3.55 / 3.41 CFW Fix, zero233 has now made available a Resident Evil 4 HD English mod using US save data for PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware users... previously the game had English audio and subtitles with menus in Japanese.

To quote: First off, thanks to ray13j for the idea. i can confirm it works. This game can now be played with English subtitles... all that is needed is the US save data of the game so here's what you do.

1. Download the US save data (above)

2. Copy the save to a USB (or use FTP) and start up multiMAN on your PS3 and go to the file manager

3. On the left side navigate to your USB drive and then to the save and on the right side navigate to dev_hdd0/home/0000000X (the X is for your profile id, so it will be different) /savedata/NPJB00084-JPN-000

4. Copy everything except for the PARAM.SFO from your usb to that directory.

5. Load a game from multiMAN,...

I have tested it and can confirm that it works 100%. Give it a go as its a great game and runs completely smooth.
