301w ago - A Sony rep has revealed that the final version of Killzone 2 will feature over 100 death animations. Obviously the death animation will vary depending on where the enemy is shot.

To quote: A Sony Corp. representative this month said that the title Killzone 2 for the PlayStation 3 will feature more than 100 death animations in the final game.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV, the representative said that death animations will vary depending on where the enemy is shot.

Kills demonstrated in the Nov. beta and at CES include instant-drop kills from headshots to more relishing back shots that cause the soldier to writhe a bit before the sweet release of death.

Killzone 2 is the first-person sequel to the PlayStation 2 release, Killzone. It is scheduled to be released on Feb. 27.

CES 2009: Microsoft to Focus on Current XBox 360, More Friends

100°
302w ago - Fewer gamers want to upgrade, so Microsoft will focus on the current XBox 360 console.

Speaking at CES in Las Vegas, Microsoft president Robbie Bach revealed that Microsoft intends to rely on the Xbox 360 for longer than usual because its hard to get consumers to upgrade. Hence they will not be rushing out a new XBox 720? model any time soon.

Additionally, they plan to increase the 100 friends limit on XBox Live through more frequent XBox 360 updates, according to Aaron Greenberg.

He also told gaming fanatics that they can expect more channels, content, and features on a regular basis due to the new interface.

To quote: Microsoft Corp. will rely on its Xbox 360 game console for longer than the previous version because it's getting harder to get consumers to upgrade, the head of the company's entertainment unit said.

The software maker will focus on improving the Xbox's games and features rather than rushing to introduce a new model, President Robbie Bach said Wednesday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The Xbox 360 started selling in 2005, replacing the original Xbox, which debuted in 2001.

The main thing that Xbox 360 fans can boast is that achievements are mandatory for every game available on the Xbox 360 and it has been that way since the launch of the system. It is a shame that the trophy system Sony implemented in many of its games were not available at launch and was not mandatory throughout most of 2008.

Hopefully, trophy support becomes mandatory in 2009, so that gamers aren't torn between buying games based on whether or not they support trophies. Regardless of which was around longer, trophies and achievements are very similar, and are in direct competition for gamers attention.

Here are the reasons why trophies should motivate more gamers to collect them all rather than collecting achievement points.

Almost everyone that owns an Xbox 360 wants to have a high gamer score to boast about. While it's obvious from a high gamer score that a person has a love for playing video games, it usually doesn't mean that this person is a particularly skilled gamer.

Most gamers that have a high gamer score have simply played a...
