289w ago - It seems Home has updated to v0.8.6 with a new space... supposedly a Media and Events space. My thought would be more along the lines of giving the Home testers trailers instead of fixing the launch of a game from Home. Sadly, the article linked above had to remove the new images due to a copyright issue.
To quote: A tipster who choses to remain anonymous sent us in these new screenshots of a new update to the Home closed BETA. The BETA is now at v0.8.6.
The new space is called the Media and Events Space and it seems to be a harness for all PLAYSTATION related events.
The update also came with a new survey asking questions such as your thoughts on the new space, it's presentation area, your opinion on the photos and video in the gallery, and what not.
They want to know if you would like to see more events similar to PlayStation Day, what kind of content you want to see in the Media & Events Space to make your next visit more compelling, etc.
291w ago - The Community Development Manager (Sam Bennett) and Producer (Pete Smith) of LittleBigPlanet have again said that there will not be a LittleBigPlanet public open BETA.
Instead, the BETA test will be done by an internal group at Sony, but a small number of gamers and press may be invited to this. SCEE did previously say that the closed BETA would start this summer.
To quote: We had the opportunity to speak at length with various LittleBigPlanet producers at PlayStation Day, as well as get some hands-on time with the title. Top of our discussion list was the beta. We wanted to know as much as possible about when it's coming and have done since it was implied last July.
However both Sam Bennett (Community Development Manager) and Pete Smith (Producer) maintained that a public, open BETA will sadly not be happening. The game will go through a BETA phase, obviously, but this will be performed by an internal group at Sony.
There's a possibility of a small number of gamers and press being invited into the BETA phase, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Releasing the game in its entirety to the public, free of charge would be suicide.
Instead, there's talk of a demo being made available, which will curb our monstrous hunger pangs for the game until its October...
293w ago - The European BETA of Metal Gerar Online has has been updated. The update includes a new mid-sized map called Midtown Maelstrom.
Also included is a new gameplay mode called "sneaking Mission" in which one player can play as Snake.
To quote: As for the new gameplay mode, we expect the Sneaking Mission to be incredibly popular for the sole reason that Snake is a playable character.
One player takes on his role, complete with OctoCamo, Solid Eye and other handy items (how does he carry so much stuff while sneaking around?). The aim is to move silently around the map trying to collect dog tags by defeating other players.
If more than ten people are playing then another player takes the role of Metal Gear Mk II in order to help out Snake. Meanwhile two teams battle it out as usual.
293w ago - For those of you whom have not yet given up on the MGSO Beta like many people I have talked to, it has finally started. All the interuptions and delays aside, it is here at last and.. Well, I'll let Kotakuite JP describe it for me:
Before you go rushing into the game I'm afraid there is yet another patch you have to download on top of the monolothic 1.1 patch so.. Well, if like me you haven't even done the first patch yet you should start soon.
If you're lucky you might get it done before the end of the Beta.
294w ago - For those of you who have been accepted into the Metal Gear Online BETA in the United States, the 741MB download is primed and ready for the taking!
Though actual game-play doesn't start until April 21st, this download wasn't supposed to be available until tomorrow so here's to hoping for a slip-up when it comes time to open the servers (sooner rather than later, I mean!
