Resistance 2 BETA coming in September via Qore

50°
317w ago - Just like how the Socom BETA is set up already via Qore, R2 BETA is coming in September Qore episode.

In a statement released today, Insomniac clarified that there will be "many" ways to get access into the BETA, including a pre-order campaign. Additionally, there will be ways for PS3 owners living in regions outside of North America to get in the BETA as well. Details have yet to be announced, but be rest assured that signing-up for Qore is not the only way.

While details are scant, those who are signed-up for Sony's digital-based Qore magazine will receive an exclusive invite to a BETA of Insomniac's highly anticipated PS3 first-person shooter Resistance 2 in September.

It's not yet known as to how invites will be given out - though we assume only those who have purchased an annual ($25) subscription to the service will be on the receiving end. Expect more details soon.

Nvidia GTX 280/260 55nm comes by September

50°
318w ago - Fudzilla: We said a few months ago that Nvidia drives two projects in parallel. GT200 65nm that got launched and branded as GTX 280 / 260 is out and there is a GT200 55nm chip that should be launched shortly.

Our sources are telling us that 55nm version of the chip should be ready either in late August or in September, which means that Radeon HD 4870 X2 will get some competition.

We believe that Shaders and clock of 55nm GT200 are definitely going to be higher than the 65nm and the chip itself should be a bit cooler.

This means R700 will get some better competition, and the fact that this ATI's dual card is going to end up faster than GTX 280 doesn't mean ATI has already won the war.

PS3 80GB Dropping to $400 in September, Will Replace 40GB

100°
318w ago - Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton announced today that the price point of the 80GB PS3 model will permanently drop to $400 dollars this September, replacing the current 40GB pack.

Tretton stressed that the new 80GB Core Pack will become Sony's primary PS3 model, offering "all of the same features and functionality" of the 40GB.

Does that mean no backwards compatibility with PS2 games?

To quote: No new SKU was announced, and the 40 GB SKU will be phased out, so it seems that Sony is likely moving back to a one-version console market. Unfortunately, the company did not make any comment on backwards compatibility, which is a key concern for buyers.

Legendary confirmed for September 2008

320w ago - An updated Atari release schedule has confirmed a September 2008 release date for Spark Unlimited's PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 FPS Legendary.

Spark Unlimited didn't get off to the best of starts in next-gen development with Codemasters' Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, but things are looking much more promising with its Pandora's Box inspired FPS, Legendary.

Although not yet matching the visual splendour of the best available on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, Legendary certainly looks action packed. You can judge for yourself by checking out the latest footage of the game in action. Check out the video here courtesy of VideoGamer.

The Witcher Enhanced Edition Delayed to September

50°
322w ago - Developer CD Projekt today revealed that its reworked and tweaked version of The Witcher, titled The Witcher Enhanced Edition, has been delayed to early September.

Originally slated for a May release, CD Projekt made mention of the delay in April, but had not specified a new date for the expanded PC fantasy RPG.

The revised launch date was announced in an update to the game's community page, where the company explained that the delay was necessary to prepare ten different language localizations of the game for a simultaneous release.

Beyond bug fixes and stability improvements, The Witcher Enhanced Edition will see the addition of fifty new character models for an increased variety in NPCs, new voice acting, a redone translation, improved facial animation and gestures, and a revised inventory system. Most of the changes are a direct result of player feedback.

The new content will be provided free of charge to those users who have already purchased the game. The retail version of the Enhanced Edition will include several bonus items including a video DVD, two music CDs and an extra DVD with bonus materials, such as an adventure editor.
