Exclusive Info on the New PS3 Controller unveiled!

329w ago - Sev1512 of PlayStationLifeStyle writes: It has been brought to my attention that PlayStation Underground held a secret focus group earlier this year.

A small group of PS3 owners were sent to a facility in [undisclosed location], California to test a new PlayStation product in development.

Once inside the testing facility, these PS3 owners were shown a mini-tripod that stood about 12 inches high. and what looked like 4 black PS3 "wiimotes". Well they were essentially "wiimotes" for the PS3, but didn't need a "nunchuck" attachment. I will refer to them as "PS3motes" for now on.

You can have up to 4 of these "PS3motes" connected at one time. A demonstrator at this focus group was there showing off the "PS3motes" capabilities, along with some mini-games to play. The mini games ranged from tennis, to fencing, to a "really really cool" paintball game. The demonstrator even used the "PS3mote" to play "Quake" on his laptop.

The "PS3mote" is said to be incredibly responsive and accurate. When the demonstrator crouched while playing the paintball game, the character on screen did as well.

The biggest concern of the demonstrator was that for these "PS3motes" to work they needed the tripod, which connected to the PS3's USB...

End of Year Exclusives: Sony Vs Microsoft

50°
331w ago - Last year you'll have no arguments that Microsoft's better games line up prevailed over Sony's. You could forgiven Sony and its developers for not having enough time to get used to the new hardware or it could have been that Microsoft just crammed all their five star quality titles into a few months.

Whatever the reason, it leaves 2008 to be more important. With now both Sony and Microsoft preparing great looking line ups for the end of the year. We take a look to find out who's line up looks better on paper.

Sony's heavy hitters are Killzone 2, Resistance 2 & Little Big Planet and to be honest that sounds like enough to fight off anything Microsoft have as Sony are releasing what should be 3 fantastic games.

Although Microsoft will be serving up some Gears of War 2, Fable 2 & Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise to combat Sony's onslaught. At the recent industry press events we got a truck load of information about what both company's will be offering come Christmas time.

Microsoft

Microsoft don't exactly have the massive line up they've had in previous years but come with a few hotly anticipated games. Gears of War 2 is already looking like a suitable follow up to, arguably 2006's Game of the Year. While titles like Viva Pinata & Banjo Kazooie are...

The Conduit Returns - First Exclusive Video out!

50°
331w ago - We've been hinting at first footage for High Voltage Software's The Conduit ever since its unveiling a few weeks back, but we're finally able to pull the curtain back on it.

For those that haven't been following the game thus far, The Conduit is a futuristic first-person shooter built from the ground up specifically for Wii but High Voltage Software. The game embraces classic FPS control on the Wii, utilizing IR control for aiming, and a few new elements such as the "all-seeing eye" to uncover mysterious alien elements throughout the world.

In this initial gameplay trailer, we follow the main character's introduction into an underground plot that may in fact take over Washington D.C. and eventually, the world. Within the trailer you can see the SCAR rifle in action, some quick pistol work, a few of the environments from the game, and some tricks involving the all-seeing eye.

We'll have more on The Conduit soon, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled as production continues on this Wii-specific first-person shooter.

We've been getting small updates from the developer, but as of yet there's still no publisher officially announced for The Conduit as of yet. If you're an interested Wii gamer, be sure to weigh in on our comments section below, and show your support for one of Wii's top...

Alone in the Dark Interview and Exclusive New Screens!

331w ago - Are you afraid of the dark? Do you run from things that are creepy - or go looking for them with a magnifying glass?

Survival/horror, the genre that turned teens and adults into terrified gamers that were too scared to put down the controller (or in some cases, too frightened to hold onto it), has been a great source of pleasure for those seeking thrills and chills.

If you're in that group, you won't have to search much longer: Alone in the Dark returns this summer.

To quote: You can even pierce the gas tank, start driving, leaving a trail of fuel, bail out, set fire to the trail, and you have a powerful rolling bomb.

Our objective was to make a game that's more modern in terms of content, more adapted to the tastes of today's gamers, and in particular that breaks the clich├ęs of what you know about video games, said Nour Polloni, Producer at Eden Games.

For us it's not a survival/horror game, but a new perspective on what the survival experience is. We've done this through innovation in the spirit of the first Alone in the Dark, a broad mix of gameplay and a new way to tell the story.

In the 90s, survival/horror games were slow and creepy. Now they're taking on a more action-oriented approach. Is this good or bad, and which path was taken...
