Media Molecule Flickr Reveals LittleBigPlanet PS3 Patch Details

200°
291w ago - Either Media Molecule are kicking itself right now or [Register or Login to view links] on its flickr page was placed in public view intentionally.

Either way, we now have a glimpse at some information regarding a few of LittleBigPlanet's upcoming cheese-based patches.

To quote: As you can see from the picture below there are some new details to be gleaned about Cornish Yarg. Namely, that it will include new tutorials and the much-anticipated online create mode, allowing you to create levels with friends over the PlayStation Network.

Two new patches have also been revealed. Jarlsberg promises to add something to do with "2000 AD." Related to an upcoming content pack, perhaps?

Finally, Stinking Bishop will be linked to an "Arcade Pack." What that will include, we have no idea. But we can't wait to find out.

Obviously this is all internal data which may or may not come to fruition. Hopefully we'll hear more in the near future.

David Jaffe Holds Focus Group, Reveals Title of New PS3 Game?

50°
293w ago - Earlier this month that David Jaffe, the brain behind the Twisted Metal and God of War franchises, had a big 'dog and pony show' with Sony.

Since then, it was revealed that this green light showing will take place Thursday morning. Jaffe and his studio are trying to get Sony's approval for the game at this meeting, so it's an important showing for Jaffe's fledgling studio.

Jaffe also said they were running a few nights of focus groups for the new title, one just about the concepts of the game, and the other actually showing the title off. Jaffe may have also accidentally slipped up and revealed the title of his game.

During his video blog, he shows a sheet of paper with questions for the focus group. Some people are saying with an image processing program you can read the title off the top of the page and it says Twisted Metal.

Perhaps if the moons align and the planets collide in the right way, you might be able to read it, otherwise we're stumped, but feel free to speculate and comment below!

Nintendo Patent Reveals 'Kind Code' Game Hint System Coming

50°
294w ago - Nintendo is working on a gameplay system meant to ease the pain of completing a difficult game, without watering it down so much that it turns hardcore gamers off.

The new system, described in a [Register or Login to view links] filed by Nintendo Creative Director Shigeru Miyamoto on June 30, 2008, but made public today, looks to solve the issue of casual gamers losing interest in a game before they complete it, while still maintaining the interest of hardcore gamers.

The solution would turn a game into a full-length cut scene of sorts, allowing players to jump into and out of the action whenever they wanted. But when played this way, gamers would not be able to save their progress, maintaining the challenge of completing a game without skipping or cheating. It would also allow players to bring up in-game hint videos and skip directly to particular scenes in games.

While the patent doesn't describe how the automated gameplay (referred to as "digest moving image" in the patent) would be presented to gamers, either as a true cut-scene or as a recorded play-through, it does state that the playthrough will likely come from...
