14w ago - Ubisoft Community Developer Nik Schmidt posted up a video today showcasing player freedom and PS4 multiplayer functionality in Watch_Dogs on PlayStation 4 below.
To quote: In the latest Watch_Dogs video below, we get a first look at some of the experiences you'll encounter when free-roaming through Chicago.
While the main storyline is packed with great missions and intriguing characters, there are plenty of unique scenarios you'll encounter while simply exploring the world. Let's have a look at some of them.
At the beginning of the video, Animation Director Colin Graham says that what we see is not a mission, but rather a part of the living city experience that's only offered in Watch_Dogs.
All the activities you see above are, as he says, totally systemic, and can happen at any time and in any place. As the player, you have total freedom to engage with them or not, and you can do so in any way you want.
But remember, your actions will be recorded throughout the campaign, and they'll have consequences. And as Colin mentions, the AI is totally unpredictable, so a single variable can trigger a foot chase, a violent altercation, a car chase, etc.
14w ago - Sony French Blog Coordinator Marianne Sartori is here with a fresh video and interview spotlighting Customization, Class Types, and Multiplayer on Bungie's Destiny for PS4 below.
To quote: During Gamescom, I was very pleased to meet with Bungie's David "DeeJ" Dague, who was kind enough to answer questions about Destiny - the studio's keenly anticipated project.
We covered a number of topics, including item customization, class types, weapons, and details on how multiplayer will work.
PlayStation.Blog: Bungie is staying in the science-fiction realm with Destiny. How are things different this time?
DeeJ: Destiny takes place in an entirely new world, with lands that are different from anything that we've created before. And we actually call it "mythic science-fiction," where we're fusing Destiny with science-fiction, fantasy, and mysticism.
I think the players will relate to the heroes of Destiny as knights more than soldiers. Destiny is all about your own personal quest. It's about an epic adventure to solve the mysteries that are encountered through the story.
PSB: The landscapes are post-apocalyptic ones. You mentioned that it would be something people would feel comfortable in.

14w ago - According to CVG (linked above), Sony is preparing to reveal the final piece of its PlayStation 4 hardware strategy at TGS (Tokyo Game Show) 2013 by showcasing a PlayStation-branded virtual reality headset for the upcoming PS4 console.
To quote: "It originally intended to reveal the headset at Gamescom but plans fell through at the eleventh hour. The company is currently weighing up whether the PS4 device should be pitched as a key differentiator for the console or a non-essential add-on.
The matter has been slightly complicated, but not derailed, by the growing industry support for Oculus Rift. Sony's device will be a categorical rival to Oculus, and for months there have been rumours suggesting the two companies are seeking a partnership.
A games developer familiar with Sony's plans, who wished to remain anonymous, told CVG that Evolution Studios is currently working with the device to simulate a cockpit view on its PS4 title Drive Club.
Another developer claimed the virtual reality headset resembles the 3D headset that Sony first revealed in January 2011. The head-mounted display will be available separately, like with the new PlayStation Eye, in order to keep the baseline PS4 price as low as possible.
In August, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida suggested...
14w ago - Today Zeboyd Games Lead Designer Robert Boyd announced that Retro Sci-fi RPG Cosmic Star Heroine is coming to PS4 and PS Vita alongside VVVVVV to PlayStation Vita as well.
To quote: We here at the two-man development studio known as Zeboyd Games are pleased to announce that our next RPG, Cosmic Star Heroine, will be coming out on PS4 and PS Vita next year! And to go along with that announcement, here's our Sega-CD inspired opening video for our game! Enjoy!
A very special thanks to Dean Dodrill (Dust: An Elysian Tail) who helped out with effects and animation, as well as Chris Geehan and Dan Byrne-McCullough over at Hyperduck (who did the music for our last RPG) for helping make that video go to 11! And of course, our own Bill Stiernberg, who handled the brunt of the work!
Cosmic Star Heroine is our latest attempt to recapture the feel of some of the classic RPGs of the 90s, while putting our own unique spin on the whole experience. Inspired by games like Chrono Trigger (visual style, on-map battles, combo techniques), the Phantasy Star series (overall feel of the worlds and characters), and the Suikoden series (political intrigue, expandable player headquarters), we can't wait to share Cosmic Star Heroine with you!
