Killzone 2 Helghast Forces to Invade Sony's PlayStation Home

300°
291w ago - PlayStation Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein shared the following "intel" via PS Blog today:

In the upcoming (just 12 days away!) Killzone 2, the ISA forces lead an assault of the planet Helghan. But that doesn't mean the Helghast are on the defensive. In fact, my intel tells me that the Helghast forces are en route to PlayStation Home today.

Fortunately, the Helghast won't be armed with STA-52 Light Assault Rifles (per se), but with demo codes for Killzone 2.

So if you don't already have access (by pre-ordering), just jump into Home tonight starting at about 6pm Pacific (9pm Eastern) and keep an eye out for the Helghast soldiers. When you find one, work up the courage and... just ask. If they've got any left, they'll direct message you with the demo key.

Then you can punch that code into the PlayStation Store (upper right corner), download the demo, and repay the Helghan emissary by... invading their planet. Oh well.

292w ago - Killzone Community Editor Victor Zuylen shared the following via PS Blog today:

With Killzone 2 receiving lots of positive attention from the press, I figured now would be a good time to give you a taste of the bonus content which can be unlocked on Killzone.com through the game.

After you've uncovered a piece of Helghast intel in Killzone 2's single player campaign, you can connect to Killzone.com to claim a special reward.

These unlockable rewards come in various shapes and sizes - some are simply printable versions of the propaganda posters you see in-game, others contain details on the wildlife of the Maelstra Barrens or pages from a Helghast soldier's secret journal.

If you're good enough, you can even unlock and download physical objects from the Killzone universe. "That's impossible," I hear you cry at your monitor, "You can't to download physical objects through the Internet - let alone objects from a fictional...

Video: Live Headshot Killzone 2 Demo for PlayStation 3

292w ago - In the Killzone 2 demo for PS3 you can do some serious damage to the enemy, but only if you acquire the special gun.

And here's just how you do that - throw a grenade at the guy that's standing on the roof of the building inside the warehouse. It will make him run and get blown up off the building and allow you to pick up his gun.

Below is a video of it courtesy of nublet06 via YouTube.. and the caption reads as follows:

"Footage of me killing some dudes with head exploding headshots with the sta14 gun in the demo of Killzone 2. Get this gun by throwing a grenade at the guy thats standing on the roof of the buildin..."

Edge Magazine Gets Edged Out With Killzone 2 Review for PS3

100°
293w ago - Edge was always a magazine I like reading no matter what kind of reviews they dish out, their perspectives are so well written that it's pretty easy to negate everything else that they offer.

Did their Killzone 2 review push everyone against them, although I do not quite agree with the them, since they have given both Gears of War 2 and Halo 3 a 9 and 10 respectively.

The point is not about justification in an opinion but maintaining a minimum level of consistency and fairness with all their reviews which is a rather impossible task to achieve with the enormous amount of revenues flowing from one publication to another.

Videogame companies have made reviews a mandatory tool to push their own opinion to consumers, rather than providing an honest outlook for games, this field of argument is not restricted just for Edge, but for all major gaming publications who operate in the gaming industry.

It would be rather unnatural to assume that these big companies/publications have a stake in the game itself. Fanboyism makes this proposition even worse, in addition to the large big huge corporations, the pressure of being ignored completely by a particular community also hangs precariously over the heads of these...

Video: X-Play Killzone 2 Review for the Sony PlayStation 3

293w ago - Check out the awesome video below courtesy of G4TV's X-Play, who has given Killzone 2 a 5 out of 5 rating! To quote:

Some shooters try to hang a deep and meaningful story on their shootouts, and more often than not the plot twists end up either completely forgotten or way confusing. Not Killzone 2. This down the barrel look at life knows exactly why you're here. These Helghast have harried you for long enough.

It is time for them to be the home team. As ISA Sergeant Sevchenko, you will lead an invasion of the hazy Helghast home world, Helghan. After watching about ten seconds of an in-game news broadcast and an exciting dropship ride, the game grants you permission to fire, and off you go! Get the lead out! Why? Who cares!? They have red eyes! Do you need another reason?

The Killzone franchise has a checkered past. The first installment rode a wave of hype (not unlike the wave this game is riding) right into a wall of disappointment. Some hated the game's loose controls. Some hated the moronic AI. Some hated the glitches and slow-down that the game suffered from.

A good soundtrack and interesting ideas won't carry a game though, and the original Killzone not only didn't meet the unreasonable expectations...
