Video: The Dark Sorcerer: A Next-Gen Comedy E3 2013 Trailer

72w ago - Quantic Dream Director David Cage announced news today on The Dark Sorcerer: a next-gen comedy at E3 2013 alongside a video trailer below.

To quote: We Love Prototypes

In 2005, Quantic Dream started working on a short film in real-time 3D called The Casting, using the PS3 graphic engine we had just developed.

Our initial objective was to make a technical prototype to test the limits and performance of this new engine, but Sony, with whom we had not yet started working, quickly encouraged us to present it publicly at its booth at E3 in order to illustrate the graphic potential of the PS3, which was launched that same year.

Everything we learned from making the short, particularly the immense difficulty of creating emotion in real time, but also the importance of the actor's performance, facial motion capture, the challenge of lip synchronization and especially eye animation, would enable us to develop Heavy Rain.

After this somewhat fortuitous first effort (which succeeded in attracting the attention of the press and players, and largely contributed to creating interest in the small French company that is Quantic Dream), the idea of making it a recurrent principle quickly developed.

After all, our prestigious and infinitely more talented...

72w ago - Producer Doug Wilson made available a fresh video today spotlighting Sportsfriends for PlayStation Network as part of their E3 2013 update below.

To quote: I'm here to give you an update on our coming PSN game, Sportsfriends. Here's a new teaser:

Last time I posted here, we were still finishing up our Sportsfriends Kickstarter drive. Thanks to some of you, we were successfully funded, and since then we've been working on the games!

We're at E3 this week showing some of the games, directly on PS3 hardware. As part of the E3 fanfare, we want to talk about some of the new features we've been working on.

To start with, let's talk about Super Pole Riders, which has seen a radical overhaul since the [Register or Login to view links]. Below you can see one of the new arenas, illustrated by Bennett himself.

You'll note that there are four players there. The game now supports 1v1 and 2v2. Two-on-two is especially crazy, with poles flying everywhere. We're also thrilled with the new control scheme. It feels nicely direct to rotate your pole using the analog stick.

Hokra, too, will feature some graphical updates and a bunch of new features and arenas. The new arena layouts - which feature walls, different...

Video: New Tearaway Trailer for PlayStation Vita Charms E3 2013

72w ago - Sony Community Manager James Spafford has posted up a new video trailer today for Tearaway on PlayStation Vita from E3 2013 below.

To quote: As is customary at this time of year, a squadron of highly trained [Register or Login to view links] has been sent forth from the safety of Mm Towers in the UK, to the familiar walls of the LA Convention Center where E3 is held each year.

Yes, the Molecules are in town for E3, and we've brought Tearaway with us so we can show it to as many people as we possibly can.

With a bit of luck, and some big smiles, those people will go on to share their experiences with the rest of the world, so you should see some previews across the internet over the next few days. We were also lucky to be included in this year's press conference, so look out for Rex playing Tearaway - he's been practicing all week, bless.

If you can't wait that long and need a Tearaway pick-me-up right this very second, then stay put, ready your eyes and ears, and prepare for your mouth to fall agape. We've got exactly what you need - a brand new trailer for Tearaway! See below.

Video: Knack at E3 2013: New PS4 Trailer, Connected Play and More

50°
72w ago - Game Director Mark Cerny made available a new PS4 video trailer today spotlighting Knack at E3 2013 which showcases connected play and more below!

To quote: When I first introduced Knack back in February at the New York press conference, I focused on the unique character of Knack, as well as his world and the story of the game.

We took a different direction with the latest trailer, shown during the E3 PlayStation press conference: as you can see, it focuses more on the excitement and the variety of the gameplay.

The Knack World

One essential element of a character-based action game, whether it be Crash Bandicoot or Jak and Daxter, is the vibrant and varied environments to explore.

With Knack, we took the increased power of the PS4 as an opportunity to increase the depth and richness of these environments, with enemies and challenges around every corner.

We also worked to add a deeper and more involving story - in many ways, the game is a mashup between a classic platformer and a CGI movie starring the very distinctive character of Knack.

One Hero, Many Sizes

The playable demo in the E3 booth focuses on the different challenges and combat scenarios in the game, which call for unique abilities that only Knack...

Video: Gran Turismo 6 E3 2013 PS3 Trailer Shows Willow Springs

50°
72w ago - Sony Associate Product Manager Ken Chan posted up a new Gran Turismo 6 (GT6) E3 2013 PS3 trailer video which shows Willow Springs and GT3 race cars below.

To quote: 2013 Press Conference, we proudly presented a new trailer showing highlights and new evolutions developed exclusively for GT6.

Without giving too much of the trailer away, pay attention to the effects of the new physics engine as it accounts for all the intricacies and complexities of a car's behavior, especially during cornering.

With help from KW Automotive, the suspension system of each vehicle, most notably the shocks, more accurately showcase how a car reacts to various lateral loads, reproducing body roll and wheel slip in an amazingly real manner.

Polyphony Digital worked closely with Yokohama Rubber Corporation to produce a new tire model that reflects the tire compound, tire structure and changes in characteristics during extreme load conditions.

Improving the overall look of GT6 is Adaptive Tessellation, the next generation in 3D model rendering technology. Tessellation involves dividing a polygon into multiple geometric tiles; Adaptive Tessellation takes that science one step further by automatically dividing the polygons to become finer according to the viewing distance and position.
