246w ago - President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert of Q-Games Ltd. revealed more details of PixelJunk Eden Encore for PlayStation 3 today, as follows:
This is Dylan from Q-Games, the company behind PixelJunk, and this is all about Eden Encore.
First things first, what have we added? Well, basically we have added five whole new stages, each one choc-a-bloc full of ideas and gimmicks. We also designed five brand new backgrounds for them (each background for a garden is programmed uniquely just for that garden's style - just in case you hadn't noticed that in the original), and Baiyon went away and created five brilliant new tracks of music to match it all up.
To make things a little easier we are going to retro-patch the original Eden to have a new feature we created for Encore. This is the three-seed smart-bomb power your Grimp now has. Simply put, if you jump into three full seeds in a row, all the "Prowlers" on the screen explode into a big cloud of pollen. Everyone who boots up their original Eden in a few weeks will be patched and get this feature, so look out for that!
Thinking up new stages for Eden was hard work. We put a lot of stuff into the original game, especially the gardens onwards from garden...
246w ago - Today SCEA Marketing Manager Mark Valledor revealed the "Cornish Yarg" (aka PS3 LittleBigPlanet 1.12 game update) details as follows:
We don't yet have a fixed release date for this update, but it has now finished primary development so won't be too much longer. Additional fixes, particularly for online connection reliability and save game/profile size problems are already well into development and we'll bring you more news on that just as soon as possible.
This update addresses several outstanding issues with the game:
• There is a new music player which lets player's choose their own music from the XMB to play during create mode and in their Pod
• Improved decoration mode makes it easier to customize your Sackboy
New options to help prevent profiles becoming full of unwanted community objects:
• Option to delete all (unhearted) community objects and photos
• Option to select whether to automatically collect community prizes and photos
• A number of improvements have been made to make profiles more robust and to recover from certain errors
• We now support Japanese and Korean IME for text chat.
• Emitter prediction has been improved (this should help fast-moving projectiles e.g. in MGS levels)
246w ago - Today Microsoft has announced a new dev kit for the XBox 360 console, as well as new tools and a competition aimed at independent game creators. Interestingly, the new dev kit sports a new blue look and comes complete with additional debugging memory.
To quote: Taking advantage of the Game Developers Conference, Microsoft has announced a new dev kit for the Xbox 360, as well as new tools and a competition aimed at hobbyist and independent game makers.
The new dev kit, which comes in the sexy blue seen in the pictures, comes with additional debugging memory. This comes hot on the heels of Sony's announcement of its own new dev kit.
Microsoft also stated that it will release new updates to its free XNA tools. Microsoft explains the new features as follows:
"Community Games developers will be able to include customized Avatars, which have quickly become one of the most popular features on Xbox LIVE, and professional Xbox LIVE Arcade developers will be able to release game add-ons like episodic content and include LIVE Party functionality making playing games a social experience by letting gamers seamlessly Play and chat with their friends online."
No hard date was given for the updates. Microsoft said that they will be available this Spring.
249w ago - Pictured below are the official designs for the PSN Trophy cards, which PlayFire.com has revealed to its members in conjunction with SCEE.
PlayFire took the bull by the horns when SCEA released its Trophy features on PlayStation.com and allowed users to sync their PlayFire cards with their Trophy info.
It's not automatic, but it's a lot faster than adding them individually. These new official cards, however, will "update automatically based on the Portal." We're not sure what the "Portal" is, but a Trophy card that updates automatically sounds great to us.
These Trophy cards will be available from eu.playstation.com (though you can use a PSN account from any region) at some point soon. We'll be sure to let you know when they go live.

Players use the Nunchuck or the Wii Remote to control the player on the ball, while they pick the player to pass to, or send them on runs into space.
The system has been further refined, so that close control is improved, but two new control ideas have also been implemented.
