Rumor: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves to Arrive on September 30?

50°
271w ago - French Web site PS3Gen shared an alleged 'leaked' copy of Sony's PS3 games calendar for this year.

Among the biggest revelations unveiled in this calendar would be the supposed release date of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves which shows a release date of September 30, 2009.

To quote: Up to now, Naughty Dog would go no farther than to give us the release window of their highly anticipated sequel, keeping it pinned at an "Autumn release."

They have also so far debunked rumors of an October launch for the game, which this calendar, as you will see, does corroborate.

That's because Uncharted 2 is listed as being released on 30/9/2009 = September 30, 2009. Definitely, that's not October. It's Autumn, yeah, but not October.

Included in the alleged leaked info would be a still undated Gran Turismo 5, as well as two Singstar titles for Michael Jackson, one being with the special microphone.

Take this news with a fair grain of salt in the meantime, until we hear anything more substantial - and better yet, official - word from Sony or Naughty Dog themselves.

Dirt 2 for the PlayStation 3 Console Expected in September 2009

290w ago - The original Dirt was a hit across the board, which naturally means that Codemasters is hard at work on a sequel. Known quite simply as Dirt 2, this follow-up was unveiled by the English publisher at a press event last night in San Francisco.

During the presentation, the big theme that Codemasters was hammering on for this sequel was the idea of off-road racing with an extreme sports attitude. What does that mean, exactly?

The first game featured voice-over work by motocross legend Travis Pastrana, but this time around Codemasters is looking to go full tilt with the game's presentation.

A teaser video revealed a scene from the player's RV, the hub where you control all your career mode exploits, and it was a raucous collection of grime, half-naked women, and general insanity. That should serve as a good hint of what the overall attitude will be.

But of course, this is still a racing game, and gussying up the user interface will take you only so far. Thankfully, Codemasters revealed some intriguing information about the type of racing you'll be doing this time around. The biggest chunk of information they let out is the inclusion of stadium rally events.

They showed a gameplay video of a fictional stadium built around London's Battersea Power Station, with...

Microsoft XBox 360 Outsells PS3 in Japan in September

100°
312w ago - Microsoft Corp's Xbox 360 outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 in Japan in September, beating the rival machine in monthly unit sales for the first time in Sony's home market, a game magazine publisher said.

Strong sales growth came after Microsoft cut prices for its game console last month.

Microsoft sold 53,547 units of the Xbox 360 in the four weeks to September 28, compared with 33,071 units of the PS3, data from Enterbrain showed on Friday.

Nintendo Co Ltd safely maintained its leading position in the Japanese console market, having sold 109,548 units of the Wii during the month.

Although popular in the United States, the Xbox 360 has been struggling to compete with the PS3 and the Wii in Japan, home to both Sony and Nintendo.

In a bid to lift sales, Microsoft on September 11 cut the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade, which comes without a hard disk drive, by 8,000 yen ($76) to 19,800 yen. It also lowered the price of the high-end Elite model by 8,000 yen to 39,800 yen.

Sony sells the PS3 with a 40-gigabyte hard disk drive for 39,980 yen, while Nintendo offers the Wii for 25,000 yen.

The Microsoft console also got a boost from Square Enix Holdings' popular role-playing game, "Infinite Undiscovery", launched in Japan on September 11.
