Gambol v0.1 PS3 Homebrew Game is Now Available

158w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer ThatOtherDev has released another PS3 homebrew game entitled Gambol v0.1.

To quote: I've started work on a platformer for PS3. The gameplay is (currently) 2D but it has 3D graphics making it the first 3D thing I've made for PS3 since switching from the official SDK to PSL1GHT.

The art assets are all placeholder. This will NOT be a Mario clone by the time I'm done with it.

The character model used for the player was made by Bubles Studio.

PS3 controls:

  • Left analog stick = Move
  • X = Jump

From the ReadMe File: For those that have multiple external HDDs connected to your PS3 and are using the gameData.pkg (released a few weeks ago) this tool (tweak) may be helpful to you, so you don't have to be swapping USBs in order for the gameDATA app to see your current external HDD as the (1) main ext HDD.

So for those that have been enjoying the latest PSN DUPLEX backup games, but running out of internal HDD space, plus those that have more than one external HDD (and don't wish to be swapping the external HDDs so they can be identified as the (1) USB drive, this will help you.

158w ago - Following up on the previous releases, today I have updated the PS3 PKGView Extractor homebrew application for PC to version 1.0 followed by version 1.1 and version 1.1b which include bug fixes.

PkgView is a tool for extracting files from PS3 pkg. Tool is 100% legal it contains no Sony code. PkgView also has a graphical interface that simplifies the extraction of both individual files and the complete package.

OpenPS3FTPSplit PS3 FTP Split Homebrew Application Arrives

158w ago - Following up on OpenPS3FTP, today French PlayStation 3 developer Onishin has released OpenPS3FTPSplit which allows users to split files over 4GB in size for transfers.

To quote, roughly translated: Onishin, a member of our forums and developer, today gives us a nice homebrew named OpenPS3FTPsplit and is a mod source code of version 2.3 of OpenPS3FTP, the famous FTP server designed by jjolano.

This program has a unique feature that most practical of the split files larger than 4GB on a transfer via FTP. Understand by this that if you want a transfer of these files on the internal hard drive of your console or an external hard drive (FAT32) that is connected, you simply start the copy and the software will automatically split it.

But to avoid splits that you close all your files that you transfer, which could be annoying in the long run, it divides the files in question in each part of 4GB only if the following condition is met: the files you want to transfer...
