Socom Confrontation 1.50 Update Details, 1.60 Plans Revealed

200°
266w ago - The Socom Confrontation Online Team has announced the following news, on both the 1.50 and 1.60 patch updates respectively:

The 1.50 Update for SOCOM: Confrontation is feature complete and currently in test. Due to the number and scope of the feature set of 1.50 the testing cycle has taken longer than anticipated.

We remain committed to releasing this patch as soon as the remaining open issues are resolved. It is extremely important to us to make sure the 1.50 update is as problem free as possible when it is released and we are working towards that goal rather than pushing it out as is on a specific date.

A number of features in 1.50 are of such a scale that it will not be possible for us to fully predict how they will behave before public deployment. An example of this is the tournaments, each of which can accommodate 1000s of players.

To account for this, we will ramp the size and number of tournaments during the first weeks after release to monitor and address any issues which may arise. We have also been working on a 1.60 Update which will incorporate any fixes that are required as Tournaments and Clan Ladders become fully populated.

We are happy to announce that the 1.60 Update will also contain additional features...

First Details of Rockstar's Agent for PlayStation 3 Revealed

50°
266w ago - During in [Register or Login to view links] with Eurogamer, Take-Two's Ben Feder discussed some minor details about Rockstar's upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive: Agent.

During Sony's press conference the only announcement made was that the game was, indeed, going to be made with the Sony system in mind, but it was mysteriously without images or the slightest of details.

To quote: Ben said that the series is its own franchise entirely, which is something that led to the decision to make it a platform exclusive. They wanted to make sure it got users' attention - a promise that an exclusive title certainly carries. When asked about the initial comparisons to Grand Theft Auto, his answer was a bit more cryptic.

"It's a completely different storyline, there is completely different character development. It's a game about espionage, set in the 1970s. GTA is obviously more about an urban experience, a typically rags to riches experience. Very, very different storylines, very different character development. It's going to be very fresh for gamers."

It sounds like he's dodging the question a bit, and saying that the game has a different story than Grand Theft Auto isn't in any way saying that the game will play differently....

268w ago - If you've been waiting on a PlayStation 3 purchase, it's likely that all you need is the proper incentive. And if you don't want to wait for that price drop any longer, perhaps a nice movie/game bundle will make you take the plunge.

To quote: The new bundle is set to include an 80GB PlayStation 3 console, along with Terminator Salvation, due for release tomorrow, Friday 12th June 2009, and a copy of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines on Blu-ray.

The bundle will launch on June 26th, 2009, with a Recommended Retail Price of £309.99.

This latest bundle offer joins a long line of pre-packaged PS3 hardware and software, and will no doubt help to raise the profile of the system on UK shop shelves, but that long-awaited price-drop is still top of many gamers' lists.

200°
269w ago - BBC's Darren Waters, who works for the technology section of the bbc, said on his blog [Register or Login to view links] that he believes a game he was shown last year behind closed doors will be show this year.

To quote: "I'm also led to believe that a game I was shown more than a year ago now, and got me quite excited, might, just might, be unveiled at this E3," he wrote on his blog.

"And I've also been told that the game has changed enormously since I first saw it..." Sony may now have many tricks up it's sleeve.

Tomorrow is now far too long to wait.
