94w ago - Sony Santa Monica Studio Lead Game Designer Seth Killian has announced that PlayStation All-Stars has gone gold, and unveiled a the final boss in a new opening cinematic below today!

To quote: Stretching back from my roots as a tournament player to my current gig as lead game designer for Sony's Santa Monica Studio, I've spent over two decades in fighting games, and have been thrilled to revisit so many great memories from my own PlayStation history with the characters and stages of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

I'm here today on behalf of SuperBot Entertainment, Bluepoint Games, and Santa Monica Studio to announce that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has gone gold on PS3 and PS Vita! All of us are extremely grateful for the help from our beta players in testing our networking, and thrilled to see the amazing response from all of you that played the beta, which is just a small slice of the full game.

In celebration of this milestone, we wanted to share something special as a small "thank you!" to all the amazing PlayStation fans who have helped us come so far. Today we're officially unveiling the opening cinematic sequence to the game.

We've been pretty tight-lipped about our...

Resistance: Burning Skies Survival Mode Unveiled for PS Vita

50°
122w ago - Today Sony Senior Producer Frank Simon has unveiled the Survival Mode in Resistance: Burning Skies for PlayStation Vita.

To quote: Over the last couple of weeks we've been talking a lot about the highly anticipated multiplayer mode for Resistance: Burning Skies for PS Vita.

Supporting up to eight players over WiFi with a robust arsenal of powerful weapons and the precision and accuracy that come with dual-analog controls, Resistance: Burning Skies is sure to be the best FPS multiplayer experience available on a handheld.

We've already lifted the lid on the first two modes, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, and just last week at an event in San Francisco we revealed the title's last multiplayer mode, Survival Mode, an intense power struggle between humans and the gruesome Chimera.

Survival mode pits the players against each other in a race to the finish where only the strong survive. Here's how it works: in a battle of humans vs. Chimera, six players start as humans and two as Chimera.

As the Chimera players make a kils, their human victims are resurrected as Chimera so the balance slowly shifts. As the battle continues, the winner is the human player who lasts the longest in a match. We keep a timer running as you play so you can track your progress.

152w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a RetroGrade video walkthrough on PlayStation 3 today with details below.

To quote: We've featured Retro/Grade several times on the PlayStation.Blog over the past couple of years.

And so, we know a lot about it: it's a shooter, controlled with a guitar controller, in reverse. But before Fantastic Fest 2011, I had never seen someone actually play the thing. As a pretty experienced Rock Band-er, I thought I'd be able to jump in and kick some ass, but the reality is, my gaming brain had never been taxed in quite this way.

So we set up a camera for [Register or Login to view links]' Matt Gilgenbach, clad in a hard hat, to show you how the game actually plays. He actually beats the game in the first 30 seconds, but that's not an accident...

While at Fantastic Fest, Destructoid called it "a blast in the pants." I agree (I think). Retro/Grade will be coming exclusively to PSN in 2012. Hold on to those plastic guitars.
