Sony Announces Gravity Crash Ultra is Coming Soon to PS Vita

50°
58w ago - Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray announced today via Sony's blog that Gravity Crash Ultra is coming soon to PS Vita.

To quote: Back in 2009 we released Gravity Crash for PlayStation 3, a love letter to classic '80s shooter gaming.

The game was a labor of love for our small team, a team that wanted to produce a title with precision controls, high definition visuals and memorable sound but remain a modern-day interpretation of retro arcade gameplay.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, Gravity Crash is a side-scrolling space shooter featuring well over 40 levels, a host of enemy types and five major boss battles.

We here at Just Add Water are excited to reveal that we're now working on a native PS Vita version of Gravity Crash, which will retain that all important 60 frames a second speed with native PS Vita graphics running at the full 960 x 544 resolution, making the most of that stunning OLED screen - we're really excited about how vivid and rich Vita makes our game look.

To us, PS Vita is the number one platform for the game - the bite-sized level design and clear structure making it the ideal game to play on your daily commute, and the system's controls - with the dual analog sticks and touch-screen - allow for pixel-perfect precision in both the...

Video: Switch Galaxy Ultra Revealed for PS4 and PlayStation Vita

200°
58w ago - Atomicom Managing Director Gary Nichols officially revealed Switch Galaxy Ultra for both PS4 and PlayStation Vita platforms at Gamescom 2013 today.

To quote: It only seems like just a couple of weeks ago that we were writing our guest post about the release of Switch Galaxy for PlayStation Mobile, and already we're back with our announcement for Switch Galaxy Ultra.

The reviews we saw for Switch Galaxy blew us away, with many 9/10 scores and, of course, the awesome player feedback we received about the game really helped us get energized to improve on our PSM title as we knew there was a lot more we could do with it.

Due to the amazing reviews the Switch Galaxy received, we were invited to meet with the team at SCEE to discuss what our future plans were. As we still had lots of ideas (and, more importantly, the energy) for Switch Galaxy, we wanted to carry on working on it and try to get a native release out ourselves on PS Vita. Luckily they offered to support us in that.

So, we set about producing some new assets, redesigning elements such as the game HUD and front-end, adding new features and improving on some of the areas we felt could be made better.

Eventually, we went back to...

67w ago - FuturLab Managing Director James Marsden announced today that Velocity Ultra blasts off on PS Vita this July 2nd with details below.

To quote: What can I say? Other than sorry for the delay! We've been somewhat harassed by you folks for a month on Twitter, Email and Facebook, and frankly we deserved it! But now Velocity Ultra for PS Vita is nearly upon us, bug-free and with a high-res coat of paint.

Velocity Ultra has earned some whopping review scores. Still not convinced? Let's look at some of the improvements in this new, definitive version of the game.

Velocity Ultra features online leaderboards and Trophies (including a Platinum!), native res artwork, and flawless 60FPS action. I

t's a piece of perfectly formed interactive art that we're extremely proud to have installed on our PS Vitas. Velocity Ultra also features the same kick-ass soundtrack by Joris de Man (and myself, yay!), which you can now buy separately from all major digital music storefronts!

So what are you waiting for? A sequel? We'll see what we can do, but in the meantime, this is the definitive Velocity experience, and we're sure you'll agree that it rocks!

Video: Velocity Ultra on PlayStation Vita: New Trailer and Details

50°
79w ago - FuturLab Managing Director James Marsden shared a new video today showcasing Velocity Ultra on PlayStation Vita below.

To quote: Hey folks! I'm here to share all the juicy details about Velocity Ultra on PS Vita.

Velocity on minis was critically celebrated (lots of 9/10 review scores), but many people suggested improvements to the game to make it a 'must buy'.

So we began scouring the internet for every Velocity write up we could find; professional and hobbyist, as well as YouTube comments and forum threads around the world. We took all the feedback into account, and addressed all of the major requests (as well as some of the minor).

Many people thought Velocity was a bargain on minis because of the sheer amount of content we managed to squeeze into it, and now Sony has made it official by classifying the game as 'Large' when allocating trophies for the new release - which means Velocity Ultra has lots of trophies, including a Platinum! You're gonna to have to work for that platinum.

Velocity Ultra features global and friend online leaderboards, as well as something called the Elite Lounge, which is a bit like an exclusive club for awesome players. To find out more about the Elite Lounge,...

FuturLab: Velocity Getting Remade for PS Vita as Velocity Ultra

50°
90w ago - FuturLab Managing Director James Marsden has confirmed today that Velocity is getting remade for PS Vita as Velocity Ultra with details below.

To quote: Hello again! It feels great to be back - especially now that we're able to reveal a project that so many people have asked for: a native PS Vita version of our multiple award-winning PS minis game Velocity!

It's called Velocity Ultra, and it features Trophies, online high scores and a completely overhauled visual style at native PS Vita resolution. We're reworking all the art in the game, so the cut scene stills have been recreated at a much higher standard than before.

We're also unifying the art style throughout the game by ditching pixel art in favor of the edgy cartoon style.

The dinky (and rather pathetic) Quarp Jet now looks less dinky (and rather bad-ass)

We're also adding lots of visual effects. Here's what Velocity Ultra looks like at the moment. Note that the graphics look considerably cleaner when running live on PS Vita's screen.

The dark shading at each side of the screen focuses the action whilst explosions illuminate the environment to create a more dramatic experience. The PS Vita is a lot more powerful than the PSP, so we're able to add these lighting effects whilst still running...
