Street Fighter X Tekken

First, we sat down with Capcom's resident fighting expert Seth Killian to discuss the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken, which blends the fluid 2D elegance of Street Fighter with the rough-and-tumble brawling of Tekken. We were particularly curious to learn about Gems, which work as customizable loadouts for your fighters, and how inFAMOUS 2's Cole McGrath will stack up in battle. Watch the video for more on this eagerly anticipated PS3 and PS Vita fighter.

152w ago - Capcom Producer Derek Neal has announced today that Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition will be hitting PSN PLAY on August 23, 2011.

To quote: Available August 23rd, Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition takes one of the most revered fighting games in CAPCOM's history and brings it Online.

Quite frankly, the feature set we've included in this downloadable is jaw dropping. In addition to upscaled graphics, we have hundreds of trials, dynamic challenges, and a huge Vault full of all kinds of unlockables.

We have multiple training modes, integrated Tournament support, and 8 player lobbies (with spectator mode!). We have GGPO for near-lagless online play, a robust replay system, and the ability to upload matches straight to YouTube - from within the game! All of this, and much, much more.

We are also very excited to be the lead title in the brand new PSN PLAY program. Now with PSN PLAY, you're able to pre-order this game now. This is actually the first time a pre-order program has been offered for a downloadable PSN title, and we couldn't be happier than to help lead that charge.

EVO: Capcom on PSN Street Fighter III, Street Fighter X Tekken

200°
153w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared an EVO interview today with Capcom's Seth Killian on PSN Street Fighter III and Street Fighter X Tekken.

To quote: This August sees the long-awaited PSN release of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition, followed by Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 in November and Street Fighter X Tekken in 2012.

I caught up with Capcom's Strategic Director of Online & Community Seth Killian at EVO, the world's biggest fighting game tournament, to get the latest updates on all three games.

Killian did me one better, discussing Capcom's evolving view of community engagement and sharing his analysis of Noah "The Prodigy," the eight-year old Marvel vs Capcom 3 competitor who captured the imagination of EVO attendees when he outmatched much older players to place among the competition's top 64 finalists.

PlayStation.Blog: Street Fighter III was famously a huge departure from Street Fighter II, earning it a fair bit of controversy. How does it hold up today?

Seth Killian, Strategic Director of Online & Community: For me, the essence of any great fighting game is learning how to read the mind of your opponent. If you can do that, Street Fighter III gives you the ultimate way to show that off...

EVO: Cole in Street Fighter X Tekken PS3 & PS Vita Development

200°
154w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared an EVO update today spotlighting Street Fighter X Tekken including PS Vita development details.

To quote: While the world's greatest fighters were trading blows during EVO, I was scrambling to trade words with top fighting game developers who attended the tournament.

In recent years, Capcom Producer Yoshinori Ono has become the face of the legendary Street Fighter series and he was on-site showing off the upcoming crossover Street Fighter X Tekken.

I wanted to pick his brain concerning his friendly rivalry with Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada, his thoughts on PS Vita development, and why he chose inFAMOUS frontman Cole as an exclusive special guest for the PS3 and PS Vita versions of Street Fighter X Tekken.

PlayStation.Blog: What made you and Harada face off in the Ono X Harada video?

Yoshinori Ono, Producer, Street Fighter X Tekken: We started a tradition at last year's Comic-con, this kind of a pro-wrestling-style rivalry. The new video is just this year's version of our wacky rivalry.

The game itself has kind of a festival atmosphere, so we didn't want to be too serious about it. We wanted to bring Tekken fans and Street Fighter fans to the same table, and the...
