Sony Announces HBO GO for PS3 Coming Soon, PS4 to Follow

100°
35w ago - Sony Senior Vice President Phil Rosenberg of Business Development announced today that HBO GO for PS3 is coming soon, with PS4 to follow!

To quote: Earlier this evening at the inaugural [Register or Login to view links] event in New York City, HBO CEO Richard Plepler announced that HBO and PlayStation have partnered to offer the popular HBO GO app - first on PlayStation 3, with PlayStation 4 to follow.

With the HBO GO app on your PlayStation system and an HBO subscription via your cable or satellite provider, you'll have unlimited, on-demand access to your favorite HBO shows, like Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and True Detective. HBO GO offers every episode of every season of the network's best shows. You can also enjoy hit movies, sports, documentaries, and comedy specials, as well as special behind-the-scenes extras.

As a huge Game of Thrones fan, I can't wait to watch the show using my PS3. Speaking of which, see here to watch the season 4 trailer that premiered earlier this week, in case you missed it.

Keep checking back here for more updates on when the HBO GO app will be available to download on PS3 and PS4.

Sony Announces Sportsfriends Vaults to PS4 / PlayStation 4 Soon

50°
48w ago - Sony Producer Doug Wilson announced that Sportsfriends is vaulting to the upcoming PS4 / PlayStation 4 video game console soon!

To quote: Hello PlayStation peoples, By now you've seen our upcoming game Sportsfriends, right? Local multiplaaaaaayer represent!

Last time I posted here was during E3, to tell you all about some of the new features. This time, I just want to share a simple announcement... We're bringing Sportsfriends to PlayStation 4!

Better yet, those who backed our PS3 version on [Register or Login to view links] will be entitled to download the PS4 version for free. (For everyone else, we're still determining whether we'll be doing cross-buy.)

We don't have an exact release date for the PS4 version, and it will likely come after the PS3 debut. But a PS4 version will come in the not-so-distant future.

Personally, I'm especially excited to get my game [Register or Login to view links] running on DualShock 4. That thing even has a light bar on it!

Meanwhile, we're still working on an exact release date for our PS3 debut. We're not quite there yet, but we're getting close; our current plan is January. All four Sportsfriends games...

Proteus is Coming to PS3 and PS Vita Soon, New Features Detailed

50°
49w ago - Creator Ed Key announced that Proteus is coming to PS3 and PS Vita soon, and has detailed some new features in the game below.

To quote: You drift towards a pastel island where everything sings as you pass. The sky begins to darken and something in the distance catches your eye...

I'm Ed Key, one of the developers of [Register or Login to view links] along with composer David Kanaga. Proteus came out for the PC and Mac in January 2013 and had a fantastic reception from Edge, Eurogamer, IGN and many more.

For something that started out as a weird experimental project between me and David, this was pretty mind-blowing, and it's even crazier to now have the chance to bring it to PS3 and PS Vita with some brand new features that take advantage of Sony's hardware.

Proteus is something like a constantly-remixing ambient album in the form of an immersive island world. It's all about a particular feeling of wandering through nature alone, taking it in and getting pleasantly lost.

Maybe it's a little bit about magic and mortality too. Don't expect tasks and scores and checklists - perhaps Proteus lurks somewhere on the shady fringes of what it means to be a game.

With the PS Vita and PS3 versions, we've been adding new ways to engage with...

Sony Announces Gravity Crash Ultra is Coming Soon to PS Vita

50°
55w ago - Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray announced today via Sony's blog that Gravity Crash Ultra is coming soon to PS Vita.

To quote: Back in 2009 we released Gravity Crash for PlayStation 3, a love letter to classic '80s shooter gaming.

The game was a labor of love for our small team, a team that wanted to produce a title with precision controls, high definition visuals and memorable sound but remain a modern-day interpretation of retro arcade gameplay.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, Gravity Crash is a side-scrolling space shooter featuring well over 40 levels, a host of enemy types and five major boss battles.

We here at Just Add Water are excited to reveal that we're now working on a native PS Vita version of Gravity Crash, which will retain that all important 60 frames a second speed with native PS Vita graphics running at the full 960 x 544 resolution, making the most of that stunning OLED screen - we're really excited about how vivid and rich Vita makes our game look.

To us, PS Vita is the number one platform for the game - the bite-sized level design and clear structure making it the ideal game to play on your daily commute, and the system's controls - with the dual analog sticks and touch-screen - allow for pixel-perfect precision in both the...

Video: Abstraction Games: Gunslugs is Coming Soon to PS Vita

50°
56w ago - Abstraction Games Creative Director Tj'ien Twijnstra confirmed today that Gunslugs is coming soon to PS Vita.

Below are the details, to quote: Hi everyone, I'm Tj'ien, creative director at [Register or Login to view links], and I'm more than excited to tell you that we'll be bringing Orange Pixel's highly addictive, retro-inspired, side-scrolling roguelike Gunslugs to PS Vita.

We came into contact with Gunslugs' creator Pascal Bestebroer - "indie game developer extraordinaire" - through the nice people at Sony Computer Entertainment, who suggested he get in touch with us after they were amazed by the work we did on Hotline Miami for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

We were tremendously honored to be referred by Sony and we were thrilled to be working with Pascal as he has created so many great, retro-inspired gems, that we felt we had no other choice than to jump onboard straightaway.

After we had worked on Knytt Underground and Hotline Miami, we're all really excited about the tremendous potential of the PS Vita and its unique input systems.

But the more traditional, natural feeling of the physical buttons, combined with the amazing OLED display, make the idea of bringing Gunslugs over a no-brainer from our perspective. In fact,...
