58w ago - Happion Laboratories Chief Scientist Jamie Fristrom has announced that PlayStation Mobile title Sixty Second Shooter Deluxe lands on PSN today!
To quote: Many years ago I quit a pretty sweet job as creative director on Activision's Spider-Man series in the middle of development on Spider-Man 3.
Why did I do such a crazy thing? I'd love to say it was because of the screenplay, but no - a big part of the reason was that even though I had the highfalutin' title "creative director" I didn't feel like it was my game.
Somehow, not enough of my own creative input and ideas were making it into the thing, and I thought that at a small company I could start making games I could call my own again.
And I've been getting my butt kicked ever since! Every mistake you can make as an indie developer... I've probably made it twice. We did okay with Schizoid, which made it into the PAX 10, but didn't bring in enough money to make the next game, and although we managed to hold on for a while longer, doing some contract work here and there, we eventually had to call it quits.
My partner went and got a real job and I was about to as well, but then I heard that the Chrome web browser had...
122w ago - Today Dancing Pixel Studios have released a PS3 SixAxis Controller v0.1 application for Android users that allows the SixAxis and DualShock 3 PlayStation 3 controllers to be used as Bluetooth input devices on many mobile phones and tablets alongside a video of it in action below.
To quote: Up to four controllers are supported at once, and key mappings are completely configurable, as well as the analog sticks, which are currently emulated as digital key presses.
Important - Due to the non-standard protocol that the controllers use to communicate with the host, this application requires root access. Additionally, it is incompatible with most HTC devices and some newer Samsung devices. This is due to the required bluetooth protocol not being implemented on these devices. We are actively...
132w ago - Today Matlo has updated his PlayStation 3 project which allows users to identify (spoof) a PC as a PS3 controller in order to use PC peripherals to control a PS3 and shared some videos followed by version 0.23 and v0.24 updates.
Based on the early work of Jim Paris, the application emulates the PS3's Sixaxis controller and sends commands via Bluetooth dongle plugged into a Linux computer allowing you to play all PS3 Games with keyboard and mouse.
167w ago - Update: The PICGroove Mod PS3 SixAxis Guide is now available as promised for those interested in JailBreaking your PS3 with a PlayStation 3 SixAxis Controller!
Today hasuky at Spanish site Elotrolado.net (linked above) posted a video (below) of what appears to be a PS3 JailBroken using a PlayStation 3 SixAxis controller.
According to el_apren on IRC he plans to share a guide tomorrow on how it was done. When asked if the controller is usable afterwards he confirmed that it does indeed work normally on the PS3.
Below is the video courtesy of ryohasuky via YouTube along with a rough translation of his post, as follows:
"Start by telling you, not to say bad words are one of those many people that maybe criticize the work of others without having done any research or evidence.
Give me a little sorry for yourself and for those who doubt this project because I've spent a bit of my time and achieved what I wanted to do, not having a separate usb device, I wanted to run from the command Psgroove Sixsaxis and step be updatable via PC with just the controller and a USB cable for your bad luck has made the video I'm uploading...
187w ago - It's been awhile since our last update on PC drivers for PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 and SixAxis controllers, and recently MotionInJoy have updated them to version 0.5 Alpha which allows for using two or more PS3 DS3 gamepads on a single BlueTooth dongle.
To quote: PlayStation 3 controller (Dualshock 3 or SixAxis) driver for Windows. MotionInJoy drives your PlayStation 3 controller on Windows as a general game controller with motion sensor.
I try to improve something following list:
1. Two or more controllers connect to one Bluetooth Dongle at the same time (only compatible with few dongles at the moment).
2. More stable bluetooth connection (Vibration level change too fast, will disconnect the bluetooth connection with version 0.4).
3. Directx mode vibration driver.
4. Add original Xbox controller supporting.
5. Driver install program.
