Critter Crunch and Everyday Shooter on Sale Today for $0.99 Each

50°
75w ago - Everyday Shooter Creator Jonathan Mak announced today that Critter Crunch and Everyday Shooter are on sale today for $0.99 each.

To quote: This week, Toronto-based developers (and good friends) Queasy Games & Capy are putting their classic PSN titles on sale.

To mark this occasion, Jon decided to dust off the actual guitar used to create the tunes in Everyday Shooter and jam out the games' first track, alongside our cuddly orange friend from Critter Crunch.

Everyday Shooter & Critter Crunch may be markedly different games that took alternate paths onto the PlayStation Store, but they share a lot in common. Here's a little bit about why these games are important to their creators/teams:

Five years ago I released my first game, Everyday Shooter, in which you play through an album of musical [Register or Login to view links], where every sound effect is a guitar riff or note harmonizing over an all-guitar soundtrack. So as you play the game, it feels like you're jamming along with the music. Each level/song/track has a different vibe, look, sound and gameplay mechanic - kind of like how songs on an album flow through different moods.

At least that's what it is for most people. In actuality the game was built on ten years'...

88w ago - Today NIS America's Chris King shared a video confirming that Black Rock Shooter The Game comes to PSP on Tuesday.

Below are the details, to quote: My name is Chris King; I recently joined the awesome team here at NISA.

I'm here today to talk about Black Rock Shooter The Game, which hits PSP via PSN next Tuesday for $19.99. Shall we get started? Splendid!

Let me give you a quick rundown of the history of Black Rock Shooter. It all began as a simple illustration by renowned artist Ryohei "Huke" Fuke.

The mysterious yet appealing design of the character inspired the creation of a Black Rock Shooter song (voiced by the ever popular Hatsune Miku), an original video animation, and even an eight-episode anime series. Starting off as a single character design, it has now evolved into an explosive Japanese RPG - not bad!

Alright, let's talk story. The year is 2032 AD, and Earth has been ruthlessly assaulted by alien forces. Nineteen years of nonstop battle now threatens the very existence of humanity. The last hope for human survival is Black Rock Shooter (BRS), a heroine created solely to save planet Earth - she is the ultimate battle android.

But when she is awakened to end the battle once and for all, there are only twelve human beings left...

PlayStation Mobile: Sixty Second Shooter Deluxe Lands on PSN Today

50°
113w ago - Happion Laboratories Chief Scientist Jamie Fristrom has announced that PlayStation Mobile title Sixty Second Shooter Deluxe lands on PSN today!

To quote: Many years ago I quit a pretty sweet job as creative director on Activision's Spider-Man series in the middle of development on Spider-Man 3.

Why did I do such a crazy thing? I'd love to say it was because of the screenplay, but no - a big part of the reason was that even though I had the highfalutin' title "creative director" I didn't feel like it was my game.

Somehow, not enough of my own creative input and ideas were making it into the thing, and I thought that at a small company I could start making games I could call my own again.

And I've been getting my butt kicked ever since! Every mistake you can make as an indie developer... I've probably made it twice. We did okay with Schizoid, which made it into the PAX 10, but didn't bring in enough money to make the next game, and although we managed to hold on for a while longer, doing some contract work here and there, we eventually had to call it quits.

My partner went and got a real job and I was about to as well, but then I heard that the Chrome web browser had...
