94w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli shared the first in a series of development videos today showcasing The Last of Us for the PlayStation 3 dubbed Episode 1: Hush below.

To quote: A few weeks ago we revealed the Infected and let select media get some hands-on time against these unpredictable, fungus-infested humans.

The responses were tension-filled and fantastic. We're excited to share more information with you about The Last of Us and the Infected.

Starting with this video we're kicking off a series that will pull back the curtain on our design, our technology, and our ideas that shape The Last of Us. We want to give you a straightforward look at our development process and the work we do here at Naughty Dog.

We invited [Register or Login to view links] to visit the studio and capture the development process. Along the way we'll be unpacking the many different aspects of the game and its development with a documentarian's approach.

This first video is just a taste of what's upcoming. Extended cuts of these videos will be available via the game disc. We'll have more behind-the-scenes access and content as we march toward June 14th and the launch of The Last of Us.

97w ago - Sony Video Game Designer / Director David Jaffe invites fans to celebrate Twisted Metal's first PS3 birthday with a series-spanning sale today.

Below are the details, as follows: Hey all! I wanted to drop by to help celebrate the one-year anniversary of [Register or Login to view links] for PS3!

"What?!?" I hear you say, "The game's already been out for a year?!?" Indeed it has! Crazy how time flies, huh?

Seems like only yesterday some of y'all were telling me I was an idiot for focusing the new game on three characters versus a larger cast like we did in the earlier TM games. Ah, good times, good times.

But seriously, on behalf of myself and the amazing Twisted Metal teams from [Register or Login to view links] and Sony, please allow me to say thanks to all of the Twisted Metal fans who showed up to support this latest explosion of carnage and meaty gameplay.

While our online community is by no means the biggest in gaming, it's so exciting to see that it's very much alive and kicking. It's easy to find games, and new players are hitting the scene each and every week.

We've gone through a number of post-launch tuning passes,...

Arkedo Series: Three Games in One Bless Your PS3 Tomorrow

50°
114w ago - Sanuk Games Manager Yan Marchal has introduced the Arkedo series today proclaiming that three games in one will be blessing the PS3 entertainment system tomorrow.

To quote: I'm happy to announce the release of Arkedo Series on the PlayStation Store for PS3 tomorrow, October 16th! Arkedo Series is a collection of three tightly crafted arcade games that will douse your console in a colorful world and challenge you with some serious old-school action!

First comes "JUMP!", a platformer where your 8-bit hero must collect bombs before they blow up, while avoiding nasty little bats, 2-way powered crabs, sharp stalactites, spikes from hell, and a bunch of other oddities.

The game is so truthful to the old-school experience that it has no 'continue': once you've lost all your lives, you have to start it all over again - but in a good mood!

Then comes "SWAP!", a Match-4 game where you must clear blocks before they reach the top of the screen. Combos, bonus blocks, power blocks and time freezers will help you escape critical situations and dominate the five worlds contained in the game. And once you think you're done, you'll find out that there are still a number of things waiting for you in Challenge mode!

Last but not least comes "PIXEL!", the platformer that will have...

Tales of Xillia Interview: Namco's RPG Series Gets Bigger & Bigger

200°
115w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton has shared an interview today with Namco Bandai on their upcoming Tales of Xillia RPG series video game below.

To quote: Good news for anyone who's been enjoying Namco Bandai's enormous JRPG Tales of Graces F since its launch back in August: its immediate successor, Tales of Xillia, is on its way exclusively to PlayStation 3 in 2013.

We've struggled our way through an hour or so of the original Japanese version, which launched overseas back in 2011, and the 13th entry in the long-running series brings with it a number of significant new innovations for the much-loved franchise.

Duly, we took the time to check in with producer Hideo Baba while in Tokyo last month to find out exactly what fans should expect.

PlayStation Blog: What are the key new additions to the Tales formula since Tales of Graces?

Hideo Baba, Producer: There are many unique features in Xillia but I'd like to emphasise that the battle system is very unique and much improved over the previous title. Also, the portrayal of the game world and its atmosphere has also changed a lot too.

In the previous games the characters were very deformed - they were much shorter - but with Xillia the team has tried to show the characters in realistic proportions...

Video: EA Sports Challenge Series Returns to PlayStation 3, Prizes

200°
120w ago - Sony Marketing Promotions Specialist Michael Steranka has shared some fresh video footage today announcing that the EA Sports Challenge Series is returning to the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: Attention PlayStation Nation: we're back with the biggest gaming tournament of the year - the $1 Million EA Sports Challenge Series powered by Virgin Gaming!

Last year, we blew the doors off of the sports gaming scene and now we're giving you another chance to take home huge cash prizes for playing FIFA 13, Madden NFL 13 and NHL 13.

To get a taste of what last year's experience was like, check out this video recap from the 2012 tournament finals in New York.

Last year in NYC, we made legends out of Adam Winster (FIFA 12 Challenge Champion), Tyler Glen (Madden NFL 12 Challenge Champion) and John Grasso (NHL 12 Challenge Champion). These gamers took home life-changing prizes and will be defending their titles in 2013. Bring your best game and you could be crowned this year's champ.

So How Does it Work?

This year's tournament structure has been simplified, so even if you've never played in a video game tournament before it won't take you long to get into the action. In fact, it only takes six wins to secure your spot at the live tournament...
