Sony Announces Pre-Order, Pre-Load Upcoming PS4 Games

50°
11w ago - Sony Network Entertainment Digital Distribution Manager Chieh Chen announced PS4 pre-order and pre-load details for their upcoming PlayStation 4 games today!

To quote: Last week during E3 2014, 10 PS4 games that were announced or featured at the show had pre-orders go live on PlayStation Store, and I'm thrilled to let you all know that each of those games will take advantage of PS4's automatic pre-load feature.

Automatic pre-load on PS4 allows you to download pre-ordered games before the release date, so you can get into your games after they're released faster than ever.

We all know that some of the biggest games can take a while to download, and with the pre-load functionality, you'll be able to download and install those huge files up to several days in advance.

And don't worry if you forget: any titles you've pre-ordered will be automatically pre-loaded and auto-downloaded to your PS4 system by default. All you have to do is pre-order the game, make sure your PS4 remains in standby mode, and sit back and relax.

You won't have to wait long to try this new feature out - Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, which launches on June 24th, will be the first PS4 title to take advantage of automatic pre-load. Additionally, all titles made available for pre-order...

12w ago - Insomniac Games Brand Development Director Ryan Schneider announced at E3 2014 today that Ratchet & Clank is coming to PS4 with details and a trailer video below!

To quote: Hey everyone, It's been a dream of ours for years at Insomniac to see Ratchet & Clank on the big screen.

We think the entire Ratchet & Clank universe is a perfect fit for moviegoers, from our unique cast of intergalactic characters and outrageous weapons to the majestic planets and cheeky humor.

So it's with great pride I get to announce that Insomniac will continue our involvement with the Ratchet & Clank movie while developing a game that re-imagines the original Ratchet & Clank for PS4.

As was mentioned during Sony's press conference , the game will share the film's vision of Ratchet's origin story, and features updated gameplay along with completely new visuals that rival the best PS4 games on the market.

Both the movie and game will be available in the first half of 2015. Our California and North Carolina studios will work on the game together - marking our deepest cross-country collaboration since the Durham studio was founded in 2009.

Many of the original developers responsible for the very...

To quote: On behalf of all of us at [Register or Login to view links], it's my pleasure to announce that Transistor is now available on PS4! Get it right [Register or Login to view links].

Want to know what you're getting yourself into? Our new launch trailer will give you an idea:

Sometimes we're asked "who does your trailers," and the answer is: We do! Our trailers are important to us. Cutting a trailer means packing the atmosphere and feel of our game as tight as possible, to give you a strong impression of what we're going for.

We think it's important that our trailers complement our game with original content. This means creating a scene with original art and voiceover that could be taken from some of the gaps in the story.

This way, whether you've never heard of Transistor or whether you've been eyeing its development like a hawk, the trailer will deepen your understanding of the world and its characters.

Speaking of trailers...

Video: Alien Trap Games Announces Apotheon is Coming to PS4

50°
18w ago - Continuing with Sony's PS4 news flood, Alien Trap Games Designer Jesse McGibney announced today that Apotheon is coming to PlayStation 4 with a video of it in action below!

To quote: Looking back, making our upcoming action sidescroller Apotheon in the visage of ancient Greek pottery seemed like an obvious choice. Everything is already there.

The 2D perspective, the awesome narrative and setting possibilities, heroes fighting monsters and magical goat-men with no pants... All we really had to do was figure out how to make the art on those pots move around and make it into an interesting game.

That's taken the two of us almost three years now. But we're almost at the end of our long road, and we're super excited to announce our new partnership with PlayStation to help us out and bring our hard work to even more players, as Apotheon will be coming to PS4.

Here's a few things we think will make Apotheon a blast to play with DualShock 4 in hand.

The combat in Apotheon draws mainly from our collective background as multiplayer FPS gamers. We were never much for button-mashy or combo based fighters, which I think have a bit of a stranglehold on 2D action games (especially melee focused...

CI Games: Lords of the Fallen on PS4: A Challenge Worth Facing

50°
19w ago - CI Games Executive Producer Tomasz Gop shared details today on CI Lords of the Fallen for PS4 who states it's a challenge worth facing!

To quote: I've seen my share of challenging games, and I loved a whole lot of them. And honestly speaking, I could never put up with so many people that quit playing them early.

But I've come around full circle to the point where I don't see their impatience as a shortcoming anymore. There's room for improvement in game design. And I believe that the team behind Lords of the Fallen on PS4 is after something that will narrow the gap between mainstream and core players. One bit at a time, that is.

First things first: we decided that if there's a main feature of Lords of the Fallen that will be complex and challenging, the rest should be more or less streamlined.

I'm not trying to say that we dumbed down anything. Take books written by Dan Brown or Harlan Coben, for example; they're not deprived of any intellectual value. They've been skillfully written for the mainstream audience, so... why not games?

Lords of the Fallen will try to tell a story without imposing it. You won't have to remember that the Fallen God's name is Adyr to face him. You won't have to memorize the names of crucial NPCs to follow their plots. But...
