101w ago - Over the last few days several new PS3 Debug / Test Firmware updates have been leaked outside of Sony Dev and have surfaced publicly courtesy of Cairobeta and ConsoleDev, however, no new SDK files have yet since the previous PS3 3.41 SDK file leak.
126w ago - I wanted to give myself a summary of what's new in PS3 SDK 3.41 compared to PS3 SDK 1.92. diff proved to be less than helpful here, because of all the copyright and SDK version headers that changed.
So I put together a simple program to filter the diff results. It stripped almost 150K from the diff of the SPU headers, and nearly 300K from the diff of the PPU headers (approximately 25%). It should also be possible to use this exact same program to filter comparisons on any future incomplete SDK leaks.
I'm hopeful this can be helpful for other developers, so I'm sharing my diffs and the program to create and filter them. The zip contains the following files:
To create your own SDK diffs, modify build_diffs.sh to point to whichever two SDKs you want to compare, then run make && sh...
130w ago - Following PS3 FTP Server and PS3 FTP Server v1.2, today stoneMcClane has introduced the third PS3 FTP homebrew application called simply PS3-FTP for PlayStation 3 JailBreak users, this one being made with the PSL1GHT open-source SDK.
To quote: The first legal PS3 ftp server has arrived, courtesy of stoneMcClane. The previous ftp servers for PS3 used the Sony SDK. However, PS3FTP is coded with the PSL1GHT Open SDK, making it completely legal.
Please note during our testing of PS3FTP, it crashed several times. It appears this new project still has some bugs to work out.
Finally, from the ReadMe file:
A minimal PlayStation3 FTP server written with the help of PSL1GHT (http://www.psl1ght.com/)
1) To start the FTP server, just run the PS3-FTP.self via ps3load/wiiload or install the PS3-FTP.pkg and run it directly from the...
SynaPS3 is a simple library for people using the Sony PS3 Cell SDK, primarily made for making applications universally compatible with payloads, to help extend and improve existing functions for homebrew, and to add new functions.
Documentation for SynaPS3 is on github. Some of the most notable features of SynaPS3 included syscall36 compatibility on ALL PL3 payloads, and syscall35 compatibility on Hermes v3 and Hermes v4 payloads. To integrate these compatibility fixes it's as simple as opening the source of an existing program, removing the syscall35/syscall36 functions, and including SynaPS3!
SynaPS3 also has functions to help save you time while coding, such as ReadFirmwareVersion, IsBlurayGame, Firmware342Fix, and more.
SynaPS3 is nowhere near where we want it to be yet. This is only the beginning. SynaPS3 aims to become a full library, with PS3 dialogs and full PNG output.
