205w ago - Guerrilla Games Producer Sebastian Downie has wished PS3 fans very happy holidays today on behalf of Guerrilla Games Studios via Sony's PlayStation Blog.
To quote: Between the release of Killzone 2, the Behind The Bullet demo, the three DLC map packs and the PlayStation Home content, this has been an extremely eventful year for all of us here at Guerrilla.
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to you, the fans, for supporting us throughout 2009 - by cheering us on, by playing our game, by giving us feedback and by sharing your passion.
Without your enthusiasm, there simply wouldn't be a Killzone 2. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and an exciting New Year!
219w ago - As a follow-up to the initial announcement on Sony's PS3 and PSP game lineup, today Examiner.com (linked above) outlines what fans can expect at Tokyo Games Show 2009.
For those unaware, the event is taking place from September 24th to the 27th, and the special keynote address is scheduled for the first day. To quote:
Gran Turismo 5 After being in development for years, it looks like Gran Turismo 5 may finally be coming out relatively soon. With a 2009 release date a possibility, you can expect Sony to give a huge blowout of game's features at the Tokyo Game Show, including the exciting head-tracking mode. Gran Turismo 5 is expected to be a top-seller for the PlayStation 3; so Sony should be giving the full spotlight to their exclusive first-party title.
PSP Go Although it may be hard to imagine, the PSP is more popular in Japan than the PlayStation 3. With the launch of the PSP Go quickly closing in, Sony must make a strong last impression at the Tokyo Game Show. Although the software lineup will no doubt be strong (with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep leading the way), Sony must convince prospective buyers that the new PSP model...
241w ago - The switch on Sony's electrifying announcement may have just been flipped, as a Best Buy pre-order box for inFamous reveals the existence of a multiplayer beta test for Uncharted 2.
To quote: Sony began teasing "an electrifying announcement" to take place on April 27th regarding both Sucker Punch's inFamous and Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Today a reader sent us this photo of a batch of newly opened Best Buy pre-order placeholder boxes for inFamous, which indicate that not only do pre-orders score players early access to the inFamous demo, they also receive a voucher for entry into the multiplayer beta test for Uncharted 2.
They key word here is multiplayer. Announcing that the sequel to one of the best single-player games on the PlayStation 3 is adding a multiplayer component certainly qualifies as electrifying. I'm certain we'll hear much more on this come April 27th.
242w ago - Today Emmanuel Olivier, president of the team behind Syberia, has launched an SOS to all fans of the Syberia franchise to bring the game to the PS3 console.
They want you to help rally Sony to support the independent creation, and convince Sony to change its rules and allow Syberia 3 to hit the PS3.
Press Release: RETURNS ON THE SYBERIA 3 ANNOUNCEMENT
April 17, 2009 - Following the countless messages and questions from fans which followed our announcement on April 1st regarding the launch of Syberia 3, Emmanuel Olivier, President of Microïds, gives more details on that announcement.
"Syberia 3 is not an April Fool's joke. The game is highly expected by the community of fans of adventure games and fans of Kate Walker and it will be launched, it is one of our most strategic projects at Microïds and we have been anticipating it for a long time.
It will be released on PC for sure, however, on PS3, this could actually turn into an April Fool's joke because SONY is the only decision-maker on this point, as strange as it may seem to some people.
BenoƮt Sokal, the author of Syberia and Syberia 2, has mentioned several times in the press that he would only participate in a sequel to his masterpiece if he had enough financial means to design and develop...
249w ago - The Examiner seems to think that GameStop employees are scamming in Killzone 2 and have piled up the 'evidence'.
Apparently, they are selling 'defective' units and not offering refunds as the game has been opened and are only offering to buy it back.
To quote: Derek returns to GameStop the next day (Wednesday) to exchange his disc. After explaining why he wants an exchange, the cashier tells Derek that an Internet connection issue has nothing to do with the disc and that it's likely a problem with the PS3 or his Internet Service Provider. Derek explains that it didn't work on his friend's PS3 either, which the GameStop employee called "a coincidence".
Derek is told that the only thing they can do since the game is opened and is, from their judgment, not defective is to buy it back. They weren't offering any replacements unless he wanted to wait an extra week for their next shipment. Derek's choices are to keep the game or sell it back to GameStop. Believing the game to be broken and not wanting to wait, he sells the game back.
Derek's friend kept his game, which magically started working the day of the Official launch. Derek hoped he could get his game back from GameStop after he explained the situation, but they just weren't having it.
