103w ago - Following up on the PS3 Debug Firmware 4.20 and PS3 Test Firmware 1.01 & 1.02 updates, this weekend an anonymous user on the PlayStation 3 Developer Wiki has shared the Sony PS3 Debug / Test (DEX) Firmware 4.21 update for collectors.

103w ago - Following up on the PS3 DEX Firmware 4.20 updates, I've now gotten all the Sony PS3 Debug / Test Firmware versions not currently in the Downloads section and will upload them as time permits beginning with versions 1.01 and 1.02 below for collectors.

As always, keep in mind these PUP updates will currently NOT install on a retail PS3, and so they are intended for examination and comparison purposes only.

We have 100% confirmed that running this updater on a retail PS3 will not damage it, however, it will give the following error before the installation completes: The data type is not supported. (8002F029)

PS3Tools GUI Edition v3.0 - PS3 SPU, Debug PKG & SELF Decryption

109w ago - Shortly following his last release, today PlayStation 3 developer PsDev has now updated PS3Tools GUI Edition to version 3.0 which now adds PS3 SPU emulation, SELF decryption and Debug PKG decryption as detailed below.

To quote: Hi everyone, here with a new update to my program. Added SPU Emulation, Self Decryption and debug pkg decryption. Along with more accurate loading bars and a interface change to pkg tool, spu emulation, self decryption, edat tool.

  • SPU emulation added
  • Debug PKG decryption added
  • SELF decryption added
  • Logging Errors/successes added to EDAT tool
  • Logging Errors/succession added to PKG tool
  • Loading bars code adjustment, more accurate now

Originally by KDSBest, SPU emulation has been incorporated in my GUI. It was quite easy, we both coded our programs in C# (Sharp) so I didn't really have much trouble.

Self decryption is know possible. Just browse for your self/bin file...

109w ago - Following up on the ongoing DEX thread and previous leak, today the Sony PS3 Debug / Test Firmware 4.11 update has surfaced for both PlayStation 3 collectors and developers on the PS3 Dev Wiki (linked above) from an anonymous source.
