211w ago - As a follow-up to our earlier article on news coming out of Sony's Media/Investor Conference is the following:
Sony intends to deliver PS3 3D Gaming in 2010 via Firmware Update.
According to the image from their Slide Presentation [PDF] below, 3D games will be released in line with Sony's 3D strategy and all PlayStation 3 consoles will be upgradeable via PS3 Firmware update to support 3D.
Needless to say, this should come as no surprise as several PS3 3D demos have been available over the last few months, including those from TGS 2009.
233w ago - According to N4G poster Super_Secret (who stated last week that PS3 Firmware 2.80 would be released on Wednesday), the rumored PS3 Slim will arrive lacking some non-gaming features found in current PlayStation 3 console versions.
To quote: The support for other operating systems will be one such featured stripped, as well as other hardware changes, including the on/off switch in the back of the console.
Obviously only time will tell if Super_Secret is correct once again, however, it would make sense considering Sony has already docked features from the original 60GB PS3 in order to offer the current reduced price (and feature) revisions.
244w ago - A recent study of over 1,100 British men found that most of them preferred video games over sex.
Wait, what? Thankfully this study was of PS3 owners, that means Xbox 360, Wii and PC gamers still have some of their dignity intact.
To quote: 1 in 3 British men would prefer to play video games than sleep with their partner, with 72% claiming they'd shun their missus for the night to play a new release.
From a study of 1,130 British men, of those in relationships, 32% that said they would prefer to play video games gave reasons ranging from their "partner being hard to please" to the prospect being "not as much fun" as gaming.
287w ago - Oh, another day and another hour. This time we debunk a rumor. The latest one that just smashed through the window of hopes is the teary eyed rumor that there will be a demo for Final Fantasy XIII to display engine goodies for the highly anticipated RPG that PS3 people are fond of and 360 people are drooling to have.
Well, stop hoping and praying. Not answered in other words. Here's what Square Enix's NA PR has to say:
"We have no plans whatsoever to intro a playable demo or any demo at E3 on the FFXIII project."
Okay okay. Hold back the gushing tears of agony. So there won't be any playable demo this year at E3. Does it really surprise anyone? But one thing is for sure, you can all still keep hoping that some form of FFXIII will show up at E3.
