One Way Trip on PS4, PS Vita: A Hallucinatory Journey Into Death

50°
8w ago - Project Lead Michael Frauenhofer announced that One Way Trip is coming to PS4 and PS Vita platforms featuring a hallucinatory journey into death.

To quote: Now that we're a year or so into development of One Way Trip, we have a pretty good idea of what we'd need from a platform to make the best possible "dream" version of our game - versatile/flexible controls, neat connectivity features, hardware powerful enough to push all the giant, detailed art assets we can dream of...

It's for these reasons and more that we're excited to announce that One Way Trip will be coming to PS4 and PS Vita exclusively when it makes its debut next year. Their power frees us to go bigger whenever possible, and lets us focus on making the game itself as exciting as we can.

In One Way Trip, you and your brother Barry discover that you've been poisoned in a mass attack on the water supply that has left a large portion of the nation with only six hours left to live, during which time they will be constantly hallucinating.

To put it another way, it's an atmospheric exploration of what it would be like to find out you and most everyone you love is about to die, and then have to process that while your limbs turn into cartoon dolphins.

Killzone Shadow Fall Gets Online Co-op with Intercept Expansion

50°
11w ago - Guerrilla Games Producer Poria Torkan announced today that Killzone Shadow Fall gets online co-op with an Intercept Expansion.

To quote: Today we're pleased to announce Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept, an expansion for Killzone Shadow Fall. Slated for a June release, this pack adds a brand new, four-player online co-op mode to the game.

Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept places you and up to three of your friends on the elite VSA team known as Intelligence Squad Alpha. Operating behind enemy lines, your team is on a mission to intercept and relay Helghast military transmissions back to VSA headquarters.

To succeed, you'll need to keep Helghast interlopers at bay long enough to establish a Hacking Uplink and transmit the data. Thankfully, the members of your team have all been trained in unique Combat Roles - from close-quarters Assault and mid-to-long range Marksman roles to supportive Medic and Tactician roles.

To successfully fend off the enemy and transmit the intel back to HQ, teamwork is absolutely essential. Your Team Score indicates how close you are to establishing a Hacking Uplink; increase it by defending your Uplinks from Helghast capture attempts, or by "banking" the Personal Score you've accumulated from kills, ability uses, and recaptures. You can even earn bonuses...

Video: The Randomized Fun of Nuclear Throne on PS4, PS3, PS Vita

50°
11w ago - Vlambeer's Rami Ismail made available a video today spotlighting the Randomized Fun of Nuclear Throne on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.

To quote: We've been working on Nuclear Throne for a long time. In the past few months, we've been working on the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita versions. It's still a few months out before we're ready to launch, but we're really excited about how things are coming along.

We noticed something interesting about the development process though, something we hadn't quite expected... Nuclear Throne is still a fun game to make.

That sounds like a bit of a ridiculous statement, but that's actually quite a rare occurrence. Game development is a passion occupation, something you do because you love it - but it isn't always fun.

We're almost a year into development, and we're in what is commonly accepted as the rough part of a development cycle: the production phase. It's the period of time in which the fun of coming up with new ideas has withered in favor of making things day in, day out, and the excitement of being almost done is still far-off in the distance.

Nuclear Throne is a top-down action game with procedurally generated levels. It's Hotline Miami meets Binding of Isaac. It's fast, difficult, and different every single time. It's pulp sci-fi made...

Video: Sony Announces VizionEck PS4 is Coming to PlayStation 4

50°
12w ago - VizionEck Founder and Lead Developer Michael Armbrust announced via Sony's blog today that VizionEck PS4 is coming to PlayStation 4 with details and a video trailer below.

To quote: Hello! Today's the day that VizionEck on PS4 gets announced to the world. I'm Michael Armbrust, the founder of VizionEck. I'm also the lead developer of VizionEck.

Did you catch that? Yes, our studio and our studio's first game have matching names. VizionEck is making VizionEck. So what is VizionEck (the game)?

The announcement trailer has a lot of secrets and game features hidden in it. If you didn't put the clues together, I'll help you out with some of the basics. VizionEck is technically an FPS. It has very little in common with the traditional FPS though. In the game you play as a Ranger - essentially just a cube.

He's pretty simplistic in design, isn't he? VizionEck's art-style is focused on being clean and elegant. We really love the prospect of making a game that's mathematically "exact." Almost everything follows a strict set of rules. The resulting world feels extremely harmonious 99% of the time.

It also creates a great environment for the gameplay. One example of this is how VizionEck's health system works. As a Ranger, your health is displayed as the brightness of your...
