3w ago - 4A Games Studio Rep Bi50N made available a PS4 launch trailer video announcing that Metro Redux is officially out today on PlayStation 4.

To quote: It doesn't seem that long ago that we were revealing Metro Redux to the world - today we're incredibly proud to announce the launch of Metro Redux for PS4!

The entire team at 4A Games has been working for a year on this project, under some incredible circumstances (as anyone who has followed the news coming out of Ukraine will know).

Metro Redux includes both Metro: Last Light and the prequel Metro 2033, which has never been available on a PlayStation console until now.

We completely rebuilt Metro 2033 in our latest engine, and managed to get both games to run at 1080p, targeting 60fps on PS4. You can try each game individually via PlayStation Store for $24.99, or get both together in the retail Metro Redux double pack.

From everyone at 4A, thanks for all the support we've received this year - we hope you enjoy what we think is the definitive Metro experience.

To celebrate the launch, we put together a new trailer.

3w ago - Sony Content Producer Tom Wallis shared a Destiny video today on how 4.6 million people forged Bungie's Sci-Fi epic below.

To quote: Back in July 2014, the doors were thrown open to Bungie's sprawling universe - the [Register or Login to view links] beta had arrived.

For just one week the developers invited players to journey to the last safe city on Earth, and venture out into Old Russia...and over 4.6 million people got involved.

PlayStation.Blog caught up with three key developers from Bungie to talk about the significance of the beta, and how it has ultimately made the final version of Destiny that you'll play next month a better game.

"Let's make one thing clear," Jonty Barnes, creative director on Destiny tells us just four weeks before the game's official launch, "From the very beginning, the Destiny beta was a very big test for us - we put a huge investment into our online infrastructure and we needed to make sure it worked."

"We tested every part of the game, and each group at Bungie was able to analyze the data and take what they needed from it," adds Derek Carroll, a senior designer working primarily on the multiplayer aspects of the game.

4w ago - Sony's Tom Wallis revealed details today on how real-life conflict inspired Far Cry 4 for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 platforms.

To quote: [Register or Login to view links] is the upcoming first-person shooter from developer Ubisoft Montreal.

Set in the fictional Himalayan country of Kyrat, this nation torn apart by war draws heavily from real-world locations to make the game feel authentic.

We caught up with Mark Thompson, narrative director, and Alex Hutchinson, creative director, to find out how visiting Nepal to meet people who actually fought in the civil war helped to inspire the development of Far Cry 4.

"One of the first things we did was to write down a list of different animals to include in the game," Mark told us when we met up with the team at Ubisoft recently in Montreal.

"We also made a list of environment features we wanted. From that we looked at locations where the two would make sense, and we came to the Himalayas. We needed to find somewhere that had a history of conflict - somewhere that could be politically unstable - the kind of place that you would go to that was on the edge of the map. Places that are referred to as 'failed states.'"

4w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared a pure gameplay PS4 video today spotlighting Alienation on PlayStation 4 below.

To quote: On a personal level at least, one of the most pleasing reveals in our Gamescom press briefing last week was a first glimpse at Alienation, the new game from [Register or Login to view links] creator Housemarque.

As a huge fan of classic arcade gameplay, it's great to see the studio back on the scene so quickly after the phenomenal [Register or Login to view links].

The launch trailer was predictably splendid, but it also raised plenty of questions. Questions that I wanted answered! So I tracked down Housemarque's Mikael Haveri after the show in search of a few answers. Read on to find out a little more about what the brilliant Finnish team has in store.

PlayStation.Blog: How far back does the idea for Alienation go? Is it something you've wanted to make for some time?

Mikael Haveri: We've always been a tech-centric company. We start projects by just playing around with tech. We have our own engine...
