132w ago - Zipper Interactive Senior Community Manager Jeremy Dunham has welcomed fans back to SOCOM 4 on the PS3 today and announced they are issuing free maps and weapons to PlayStation Plus users.
To quote: We're very happy today to announce that SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs is now offering free maps and weapons to all PS Plus users!
You might remember that we gave away the classic SOCOM map "Abandoned" and a couple of exclusive shotguns as an incentive to pre-order the game through GameStop. All PlayStation Plus users can now download "Abandoned" and the shotguns free for the next month!
For those of you without Plus yet, don't worry-your time will come shortly. Recall the blog announcement a couple weeks back announcing that, as a token of appreciation, the PlayStation Network will be giving all users 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership, coming soon. After a month of PlayStation Plus availability, "Abandoned" and the shotguns will continue to be available for SOCOM Pro members.
But that's not all. When we announced SOCOM Pro shortly before SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs hit stores, we promised that we'd be delivering the oft-requested M16 and AK-47 shortly after release. We're happy today to not only say that they're almost here, but that they're being...
139w ago - Zipper Interactive Senior Community Manager Jeremy Dunham has unveiled SOCOM Pro today, which includes special game types and new weapons.
To quote: We've been keeping a secret here at Zipper Interactive - a hush-hush special bonus that players who purchase new copies of SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs are entitled to the moment they first play the game.
We call it "SOCOM Pro," and you'll first see mention of it when you open a brand new copy of SOCOM 4 on the back of the instruction manual. On that SOCOM Pro call-out, you'll find a redemption code for use on the PlayStation Network that gets you... well, it gets you a whole bunch of super-cool things, really.
SOCOM Pro shows its benefits immediately on launch day, April 19, as any player who purchases a new copy of SOCOM 4 receives exclusive access to all "Pro" Custom Game queues. Not only will these queues be ranked, but they'll also be updated regularly over the entire lifespan of SOCOM 4 - so it'll be the gift that keeps on giving for quite some time.
Moreover, the first set of "Pro" Custom Game types will be the same fantastic rule sets that our diligent fans tested during our SOCOM 4 beta period. If you missed them in the beta, here's what they are now:
144w ago - Today Senior Producer Brian Etheridge at D3Publisher of America Inc has revealed EDF: Insect Armageddon which brings co-op and 300 weapons to PS3 this July!
To quote: Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon is the follow-up to the highly regarded Earth Defense Force 2017, and we're bringing three-player co-op and six-player Survival Mode over PSN to this fight! The series comes to the PlayStation 3 for the first time on July 5th, 2011.
America's first dose did not come until 2007 when Earth Defense Force 2017; Prior to that, only a handful of savvy importers knew what the series was about; insane numbers of huge insect enemies, massive destruction, boatloads of crazy weapons, and non-stop arcade action.
As the fourth game in the series, Insect Armageddon stays true to its predecessors. The Ravagers, an insectoid race from the stars, has come to Earth to dominate it...
156w ago - Q-Games Ltd President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert has made available a video today showcasing PixelJunk Shooter 2 PSN online battles, 20 weapons, and a new boss.
To quote: Here at Q-Games we've been ultra-busy finishing PixelJunk Shooter 2; unfortunately it took a little longer than we expected but that's because of a number of (very cool) reasons!
You may have already heard, but PixelJunk Shooter 2 has the most insanely fun online Versus mode that has ever been created. Rather than just do a simple battling-type system, we created a special cat-and-mouse type game which has you and the enemy take turns as cat or mouse, either scouring the stage for the other player or running away from him.
The trick being that the "mouse" is invisible to the other player unless he views you directly, so you can sneak around collecting the survivors and transporting them to your base. Each survivor that goes into your base is an extra point. But watch out: When it is the other player's turn to play mouse they can steal them back if they are cunning enough.
Carefully laid out on top of this really addictive core game is a league system that earns you "money" that you can use to buy...
174w ago - Today Klei Co-Founder Jamie Cheng has made available a video on their upcoming title Shank for PSN, which showcases combo, grappling and weapons vignette.
To quote: I decided to have a little fun with the game and record some of the combos we came up with using the standard-issued weapons. Below is the result: a vignette of Shank wailing on a poor dude.
Keeping your enemies tied up in combos, grappling enemies to deal additional damage, and using moves such as the pounce-shotgun tactic to keep enemies at bay, becomes increasingly important in Shank as enemies become progressively smarter – especially in Hard Mode.
If you look really hard, you'll notice a couple moments briefly pixelated (pixel-censorship gives me the chuckles) due to this being a public video and the ratings boards saying "tsk tsk." Don't worry the actual game is in all its uncensored glory.
Also: lots of people have been asking us about the score of Shank – we've released the first track on our facebook page, and we asked people to help hit our goal of 1500 fans before releasing the whole soundtrack to our fans. We did that in three hours. (Thanks!) and the soundtrack is now being remastered for everyone...
