229w ago - SCEA Producer Daimion Pinnock has shared another WipEout Fury Developer Diary today, covering new game modes, a date and price.
To quote: We're back with number three in our series of developer diaries featuring the WipEout HD Fury add-on pack. This week we have Zico Liu, Programmer on the WipEout HD development team.
This is Zico Liu, programmer on WipEout HD; you all might remember me from the "Beat Zico" trophy. Before I talk about what I've been up to on the WipEout HD Fury expansion pack, I would just like to let you know that the pack will be available from PlayStation Store on Thursday, July 23rd for $9.99.
The pack will provide three new race types - Eliminator, Zone Battle and Detonator, 12 new tracks, 13 new ships, 6 new music tracks, a redesigned menu system, a new campaign to complete as well a host of new trophies to win. Oh and let's not forget the additional ranks for you to achieve online. We are really excited about the content and hope you enjoy all the new features.
Also, on Tuesday July 21st, we are releasing a free update to the existing game. If you boot up WipEout HD at around 5pm GMT, you will be prompted to download the update. It will add a number of new features and tweaks to menus of the game including a brand new statistics...
238w ago - It looks like SNK is already preparing to outfit King of Fighters XII with DLC.
To quote: The upcoming fighting game will have additional purchased content available on the Xbox Live Marketplace (as uncovered by Siliconera) and, presumably, on PSN as well.
What that content is exactly, we don't know just yet; however, we assume this means more costumes and game modes a la Street Fighter IV. Maybe it means more characters ... like all the ones missing from the roster screen (below).
In addition to DLC, KoF XII has console-specific online modes. The PS3 version features a "Clan" mode which is not found on the 360 version (check out the image above); however, the 360 version has a "Ranked Match" option while the PS3 version does not. Hmm ... you don't think SNK would charge for these modes as paid DLC now, would it?
246w ago - Today PAIN Associate Producer Jason Coker announced news of the incoming PAIN Smack Pack, which includes both Darts and Fortress Modes. To quote:
We're about to drop the Smack Pack on you (sold separately), which includes the Darts and Fortress game Modes. As I'm sure you know, traditional Darts wouldn't be suitable for PAIN. We wouldn't dare make something as simple as launching a character into an oversized dartboard.
Instead, you have to launch you character toward a giant sticky billboard with multiple bullseyes painted on it, in the process grabbing another character (or bomb) and chucking it at the billboard. Sounds simple enough, eh?
Oh, I forgot to mention the fact that your opponents have distractions to jack you up during your flight to the billboard. It makes it even more satisfying to clear the distractions and pull off a bullseye, so I hope your game is in order.
Fortress is the other half of the Smack Pack, and it pits you against up to three opponents, each of you with a giant fortress on a floating platform in the sky. On offense, your task is to aim at an opponent's fortress, launch and grab an exploding object, and chuck it at their fortress to inflict maximum damage.
Every bit of damage you do costs that player points, and when...
247w ago - Capcom officially announced today that they will be adding new head to head multiplayer modes to Resident Evil 5 after the game is launched.
There will be two modes, the first (Slayer's Rule) is a point based system where you compete to kill the most Majinis while the second (Survivor's Rule) has you trying to kill eatch other.
The modes will allow you to play mano e mano or paired up with a friend against two enemies and will set you back $4.99 for the PSN version or 400 MS points for the Xbox 360 version. While it does seem like something that should have shipped with the game I'm glad Capcom isn't charging a lot for the new features.

253w ago - Senior Designer Eddy Cramm has shared an update today covering MLB 09 The Show training modes via PS Blog as follows:
I am here to talk about the new features in Road to the Show. When all of this RTTS stuff started 3 years ago, the whole idea behind it was to give a unique career mode experience that focused exclusively on you. Initially that meant that we would fast-forward you to your events so that you only dealt with your fielding plays and your plate appearances, etc.
Because lets be honest, who wants to sit out in RF during a career mode and watch three groundballs to the infield. It sucked in little league and it sucks in a career mode, too. But as RTTS progressed, our focus grew to be more than that. It became more about giving the user more control of his path to the majors.
Last year really took a huge step in the goals and points system. The guys on the front-end team like Aaron Luke, Kolbe Launchbaugh, and Jeff Ullman have built a pretty nifty system. That's right..."nifty." And from a gameplay standpoint, we have always wanted RTTS to feel like you are doing exactly what you would be doing, from going to Spring training, to working up through the minor leagues, etc.
