Video: Take a High-Level Look at Splinter Cell Blacklist on PS3

36w ago - Community Developer Zack Cooper shared a video today which takes a a high-level Look at Splinter Cell Blacklist on PS3 below.

To quote: Even though it's been such a long road to where we're at right now, it's still hard to believe that Splinter Cell Blacklist will be launching in just over a week!

We understand that more eyes are on us now than ever before - but that doesn't mean they've seen everything we've already put out there.

This video is a solid wrapper, giving you a high-level look at the entire scope of the game: the extensive Single-player campaign, the 14 unique CO-OP missions, and Spies vs. Mercs.

Oh, and it's also narrated by Charlie Cole, the man behind Sam Fisher's gadgets.

Anyway, I won't take up any more of your time. Right now, at least. Once you get your hands on Blacklist, we should take up plenty. Enjoy the video!

Video: Splinter Cell Blacklist on PS3: Three Ways to Play Detailed

50°
38w ago - Community Developer Zack Cooper shared a video today detailing three ways to play Splinter Cell Blacklist on PS3 for fans below.

To quote: As you can see in the video below, we've got three very distinct playstyles in Splinter Cell Blacklist. The Ghost is someone who likes to get in and out of a mission, leaving absolutely no trace of their presence.

You can either avoid contact with the enemy altogether (undisturbed hostiles give you the greatest challenge and reward), or knock them out. There are plenty of gadgets tailor-made for Ghosts; the proximity shocker is one of my favorites, especially when I feel like messing around with the AI.

I'll lay down mines, fire off a sticky cam for reconnaissance and/or distraction (you can play sounds from the sticky cam to serve as a decoy), and then lure the baddies into my playground.

There's something completely satisfying about knocking out a terrorist, leaving his body out in the open, then watching one of his buddies take notice and race over to investigate... only to get zapped. I'll clean up my mess after that, and hide those guys in the comfort of the darkness.

The Ghost is always non-lethal, though. That's imperative to the playstyle. If you want to use your karambit (the Indonesian knife that Sam uses in Blacklist),...

PS3 Game List v2.2 Manager for Windows Update is Released

1150°
42w ago - Following up on his previous revision and the update from Nullptr, today PlayStation 3 developer wborland0 has updated PS3 Game List Manager to version v2.2 for Windows x64 users with the changes below.

Download: PS3 Game List v2.2 Manager for Windows

To quote from his blog: PS3 Game List v2.2 - Another application update after a slightly longer hiatus, bringing PS3 Game List to v2.2.

The main highlight is support for SevenZip (7Zip) files. That means users can retire multiple programs for their decompressing needs, as PS3 Game List is now able to load game info from 7Zs and extract data as well (which means that it can now read game folders, PKGs, ISOs, RARs and 7Z compressed files!).

As you have noticed, PS3GL dropped support for Windows Xp due to framework limitations (the new compiler no longer supports Xp binaries), working just fine under Vista, Seven and Eight. Still looking into a Xp alternative for those interested, check back for updates.

As usual, feel free to suggest something...

PS3 Game List by Nullptr PlayStation 3 Homebrew App is Released

100°
45w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer nullptr has released a homebrew application he calls PS3 Game List followed by v1.5 and v1.7 with details below, as follows:

Download: PS3 Game List / PS3 Game List (Mirror - same version but will show more info should an error occur) / PS3 Game List v1.5 / PS3 Game List v1.7

To quote: Hello all!

I wanted to quickly create a list of my backups. I didn't have any app that could do it, so I wrote a simple one and would like to share it. There might be other (more professional) apps, but it's nice to have alternatives.

The application scans for games in a directory and creates a list of games names and their respective IDs.

The list can be saved to a text file. Also games trophies can be browsed if they're available.

Hope you like it!

v1.5 Changelog:

  • Added support for scanning games in network shared folders (proper permissions should be set)
  • Browsing trophies while scanning for games.
  • Double...

Video: Splinter Cell Blacklist Co-Op: 2 of 4 Mission Types Revealed

50°
47w ago - Community Developer Zack Cooper revealed 2 of 4 Co-Op mission types today in a video spotlighting Splinter Cell Blacklist Co-Op for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

Below are the details, to quote: For those who missed the last couple of posts I did here, my name is Zack Cooper. I'm the Splinter Cell Community Developer (ComDev).

Recently we shared the Spies vs. Mercs reveal trailer, and just a few days ago, the CO-OP trailer.

What we bring to you today is a fresh look into the CO-OP experience. This time we're really going all out!

Ubisoft Shanghai is doing the maps, and we are incredibly proud of what they've been putting together. As you may know, they've got a rich history in the Splinter Cell franchise, having led the charge on Pandora Tomorrow and the current-gen version of Double Agent.

Here at Ubisoft Toronto, we're tasked with making sure everything fits appropriately into the grand package of Splinter Cell Blacklist. Not only are there 14 unique missions... there's a ton of variety contained within those missions.

There are four different mission types - two of which we're talking about today. They're given...
