195w ago - Today Rockstar has debunked the rumor that surfaced yesterday that Grand Theft Auto IV: Lost and Damned DLC may be heading to the PlayStation 3 console.
To quote: Rockstar Games has told VG247 that the two episodes of DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, wont be going to the PlayStation 3 and are still Xbox 360 exclusives.
It comes as an SCEE community moderator, who was at GamesCom this week, reported last night that The Lost and Damned was playable on the showfloor for the PS3 in Cologne.
A Rockstar rep told us: "The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony are both exclusive to Xbox 360."
197w ago - Some new PlayStation Home videos are available today via the Presentation Podium in preparation for the upcoming GamesCom event and also on the new Red Bull mini-game entitled Flugtag.
Check out the PlayStation Home GamesCom trailer courtesy of Alphazone4.co.uk (linked above), and the latter video highlights what Red Bull Flugtag is all about from fijiwaterboy on YouTube.
Finally, to quote from TheSixthAxis.com: "This is labelled 'Flugtag Game Space', and shows a similar island surrounding to the current 'Red Bull Air Race' space, along with a large pig being thrown off the side of a short pier.
We know that the real-life game is based on creating your own contraption that you think will take you the furthest through the air before you come crashing down into the water below. Some people make hand gliders, while others deliberately make massive rubber ducks just for fun. The crazier the better.
It's pure speculation how this game will be implemented into PlayStation Home, but looking at how the game is played in real life, and at Sony's 'Game 3.0′ view, this could possibly be one of the first user-generated content games that we've seen hit the Home service."
203w ago - Take-Two and Rockstar are expected to release two brand new downloadable episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV in fiscal 2010, and release GTA V the following financial year.
According to analyst Todd Mitchell, who told GamesIndustry.biz (linked above) that following the release of Xbox 360 exclusives The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, two all-new episodes are due - possibly across both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.
To quote: "I would expect that there would be two more pieces of downloadable content for GTA IV, that's what has been indicated to me, although formats are unsure. It's been indicated to me to me that would be the case," said Mitchell, of Kaufman Bros. Equity Research.
Mitchell also stated that he's expecting Grand Theft Auto V to be released in the 2011 financial year, and there's also the possibility of a new GTA title for the PlayStation 2 next year.
"Coming out of E3 there was no commitment to a new Grand Theft Auto, and I think that's because of Rockstar's track record with delivering on time," said Mitchell.
"Of the three, I'm least confident in saying for sure there will be a new GTA for PlayStation 2, but the track record shows that PSP titles have been repositioned [on PS2]," he said, referring to the recent announcement...
204w ago - The PSP's Indian summer continues, with Rockstar announcing that it's bringing GTA: Chinatown Wars to the handheld later this year.
GTA: Chinatown Wars was a critical hit when it came to the DS in March, with Rockstar's open-world formula translating beautifully to the demands of portable gaming.
The PSP version will utilise the system's more powerful architecture, featuring revised widescreen visuals as well as enhanced animations and more story missions.
To quote: "We're proud to extend this truly unique handheld Grand Theft Auto experience to PSP and offer a downloadable version of Chinatown Wars for PSPgo," said Rockstar's Sam Houser, "Rockstar Leeds has shown incredible talent in creating games that raise the bar in terms of depth and innovation on portables, and with Chinatown Wars we have a rich, fast-paced, and incredibly addictive entry into the series."
Sony's Jack Tretton seemed suitably pleased with the news, saying, "Rockstar's work with the GTA series has been an enormous part of the success of PlayStation platforms. We're excited to welcome the critically acclaimed Chinatown Wars to the outstanding line-up of great games headed to the PSP platform this fall."
Chinatown Wars will be the third GTA game to grace the PSP, although it will be...
210w ago - Today JokerElite sent an e-mail to Rockstar Games regarding the rumors surrounding Grand Theft Auto IV and if they were true. You would be suprised.
Rockstar's reply: "Unfortunately, we are only able to provide support and infomation on our current releases and are unable to comment on any possible future releases.
We are also unable to comment on future patches or upgrades for games that are currently released." - Kind regards, Jamie.
Strange... I believe Rockstar Games is leading us on to something. If they were unable to comment on a future patch; then it was true after all? If it isn't Lost & Damned then it must be some sort of a downloadable content coming to the PlayStation 3.
