260w ago - At the Spike TV VGA's, Epic Games announced that a new Map Pack would be available for purchase on XBox Live that night. For most games this would be a good thing.
For Epic's new Gears of War 2 and its "broken multiplayer" (as dubbed by some) the news created an instant backlash. Gears 2 was released just a little over a month ago to rave reviews and huge sales.
Initially fans seemed pleased, but quickly a growing number of gamers began to complain of Multiplayer glitches that affected the game so much that some considered the multiplayer broken.
One example that is commonly heard is, enemies being able to basically sit on respawning spots and kill their opponents over and over again. Some fans have been left to stew in anger. Last nights announcement was like putting salt in wound. Message boards instantly started to see chatter of anger at Epic.
The consensus is that Epic should have fixed the problems before releasing any new Map Packs. Another point of anger was the fact that the game just came out. Many Xbox 360 gamers share the point of view that these maps should have just been included in the games release.
Meanwhile there has been no word out of Epic Games on these matters. It may be sad to say, but this type of thing is becoming all too relevant in...
262w ago - In the gaming world exclusivities have become all but obsolete. So it should come as little surprise that analysts are stating the future of Epic's gaming giant, Gears of War, will be bright on all fronts of the console war.
Analyst Michael Pachter, who is well known throughout the gaming industry for his insight to the future of gaming, has stated "we pretty much know that Gears of War 3 is probably gonna come out on PS3."
Pachter is going off the idea that things today aren't exactly exclusive, they're only set aside for a set amount of time. If this holds true, PS3 gamers will get a chance to see just how much they've been missing.
As gamers of all three major systems, we welcome multiplatform any day. The console war is getting down to the point of 'who's system has the better technology', and steering clear of 'who has the better games'.
Either way this one ends up, Gears of War has cemented it's place in the hearts of gamers everywhere. Regardless of which system this ends up on in the future, it's sure to have one heck of an outcome and a very profitable future.
270w ago - I like getting my video games cheaper. Especially when I don't have to wait for three months till everyone else doesn't care about the game.
It looks like ToysRUs is trying to get an upper hand on pre-orders this year with Gears of War 2. The limited edition is listed on the site for $59.99 instead of the regular $69.99 found at many other retailers.
If you do add the shipping costs to the order, and the possibility of the retailer receiving the game late then you may have a problem, but considering the site is selling it for 59.99 I don't see why they wouldn't sell it for 10 dollars less at their stores which would eliminate the shipping problem.
On the other hand, Amazon Canada has been slashing off $5-6 price tags on many upcoming games such as LittleBigPlanet, Dead Space, and Fallout 3. Even though the $5 dollar difference doesn't seem like a big deal, you have to realize that these products are available for free shipping meaning in this scenario you actually save money....
