200w ago - Sorry PC gamers. Dante's keeping his Inferno to himself. Speaking with Big Download, an EA PR rep shot down any hopes of a PC version of the hotly anticipated game.
To quote: "When Dante's Inferno was originally announced in December, we attached no platforms to the project. When we came out with a first look for press in February we announced 360/PS3 and then in April we announced PSP.
We never announced a PC SKU nor are there plans for any," the rep said.
Oh well. Maybe PC gamers will have better luck the next time a major publisher decides to turn a contemplative literary masterpiece into a decidedly violent hack 'n' slash.
204w ago - Square Enix has struck a deal with two of the largest game-selling retailers in the US to give away some exclusive Dissidia goodies to those who preorder the game.
Fans will only be able to get one unless they buy from both places - so they'll have to choose.
To quote: GameStop will get an exclusive slip-cover for Dissidia to give away. People who preorder and buy theg ame from their local Gamestop store will get not one but two special edition cases - Black for Chaos, and White for Cosmos.
Meanwhile, online retailer Amazon will get an exclusive limited edition soundtrack sampler CD featuring 10 tracks from the FF: Dissidia Soundtrack Album.
Both are pretty cool, though honestly we'd go for the cases - true fans are going to pick up the full-length OST anyway.
206w ago - According to Sony's CEO Kaz Hirai, it's important to start with the core audience and build out to mainstream gamers.
To quote from a recent interview at The Guardian with Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirai:
"We have always started with the core audience and then expanded. A console always needs a solid core of games that appeal to gamers.
Look at God of War. We launched that in the seventh year of the Playstation 2 and a lot of people wondered why we did. It's because we always wanted to keep the support of the core gaming audience.
That's not to say we're not doing anything to expand the demographics. Singstar and Buzz are obvious examples. But we need to do this in a controlled way.
If you go mainstream too quickly and don't support the core gaming audience then you lack the pillar to support your platform. Without this pillar you end up with a fickle audience that might be big but will probably move on."
212w ago - During his trip through Europe, Infinity Ward's Community Relations Manager Robert Bowling has found the time to tweet that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the Xbox 360 will be getting a patch soon that will be a headache for players who like to get their kicks by cheating.
Bowling says the patch is going through certification now and that the "cheaters days are numbered."
To quote: Heads up - A patch is in the works to elminate the cheaters in COD4 on Xbox360.
Going through certification now. Cheaters days are numbered.
212w ago - It is not an uncommon practice to scour the Web, searching for news about your favorite upcoming games or a forum to discuss your favorite system.
Within the first 15 seconds of that search, you are bound to come across hordes of fanboyish articles stating that one console is better than the other. While neither side is innocent, there are many more Xbox love/PlayStation hate articles than any other, probably due to the system being around for an extra year.
What you may not know, or may not wish to admit, is that more and more Xbox 360, true fanboys, are making there way to the PlayStation 3. There are several questions I am sure you are wanting answered here, but lets focus on the general... What gives?
In the last six months, we have seen Sony step up it's gaming library with an onslaught of amazing titles that any gamer would feel naked without. Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid and Killzone 2 helped show the hardcore gamer that PlayStation 3 can brawl with the best of them while LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm, Buzz and countless others helped involve even the most elementary of gamers into the next generation system.
It is true that Microsoft's LIVE service on the 360 is 2nd to none, and it should be. But what they don't want you to know, is that the PlayStation Network is gaining...
