Video: Industrial Revolution: The Order: 1886 on PS4 / PlayStation 4

25w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared a PlayStation 4 video interview today showcasing Industrial Revolution: The Order: 1886 on PS4 below.

To quote: Recently, The Order: 1886 took the spotlight as Ready At Dawn revealed new details and first gameplay footage for the hotly anticipated 2014 PS4 exclusive.

In our new video interview, Creative Director and Ready At Dawn Co-founder Ru Weerasuriya revealed new insights into the game's combat, storyline, and graphical prowess.

The game's universe is a complex, heady brew steeped in myth and half-truths. Inspired by an array of divergent topics ranging from King Arthur's Round Table to the Industrial Revolution, The Order: 1886 paints a grim vision of 19th-century Victorian London.

With mankind locked in a centuries-old struggle against a race of monstrous Half-Breeds, The Order was formed to turn the tide using state-of-the-art weaponry and centuries of combat experience. Amidst the ever-present Half-Breed threat, The Order must also contend with a rebel network of humans who resent the aristocracy that created it.

The Order's first gameplay footage takes us to the London district of Whitechapel, a hive of scum and villainy that nonetheless...

Sony Goes Hands-on with Evolve on PS4: Meet the Hunters

50°
27w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements went hands-on today with Evolve on PS4 introducing PlayStation 4 fans to the hunters below.

To quote: Four hunters push through the thick of the jungle, muttering warnings and checking their Sound Spikes for activity. The beast has been feeding, and the burst cocoon littering the dark jungle floor betrays the monster's recent evolution.

As the hunters trace the monster's footprints, it watches them from above, snarling and seething and ready to strike. High tension moments like these are often relegated to cutscenes in video games. But in Evolve, it's all just part of the game.

Developed by the team at Turtle Rock Studios (Left 4 Dead), Evolve is scheduled to launch later this year on PS4. The developers brought an early test build of Evolve to San Francisco to show off their latest creation. Much more than just a multiplayer shooter, Evolve's high-tension, asymmetrical design promises an experience quite unlike anything that's come before it.

Evolve is founded on the fun and thrill of the boss battle. In most games, boss battles are visually enthralling moments where players study patterns and exploit them to survive. But in Evolve, that dynamic has shifted. Four players work cooperatively as hunters to take down a fifth player...

Video: Strategy Game Frozen Synapse Tactics Evolving on PS Vita

50°
28w ago - Below is a video from Double 11 Design Manager Gareth Wright on how acclaimed strategy game Frozen Synapse Tactics is evolving on PS Vita.

To quote: For those new to Frozen Synapse Tactics, it's an evolution of the acclaimed, turn-based, PC strategy game by Mode 7. Players control an elite strike team of futuristic soldiers, from shotgunners and snipers to grenadiers and machine-gunners.

Matches take place on procedurally generated, virtual environments, or players can create their own, choosing the amount of rooms, walls, windows, cover and so forth in the creation area. All battlegrounds are fully-destructible.

Players plot paths and issue orders for their units, aiming to predict their opponent's strategies or complete the match objectives. Both teams commit their plans for each turn, we call this 'Priming', and the outcome of that turn is then played out, resulting in awesome fire-fights, exploding walls and cinematic kill cams.

Our real design challenge for Vita was to figure out how we would engineer away from a complex menu driven PC experience to an intuitive design that still maintains the immediacy of the original game. Intuitive for us meant that it should appeal to a much wider audience but at its core should satisfy modern day die-hard tactical shooter fans.
