191w ago - Somebody at Microsoft appears to have flicked a switch a little early, with an advertisement appearing on the Xbox 360 dashboard tonight for Gears of War 3.
There's the trademark Gears of War logo, and a tagline that reads "The epic story concludes April 2011".
To quote: The ad appears to have jumped the proverbial gun, with the official reveal of the game not expected to have taken place until an appearance from Epic's Cliff Bleszinski on the Jimmy Fallon show on Monday night.
He of course was supposed to have been on the show, well, last night, but his appearance was pulled at the last minute. Guess somebody forgot to pass that onto the Xbox 360's ad team!
Despite the lack of an official reveal, it's already been rumoured that the third game in the Xbox 360 shooter series will feature franchise firsts like like underwater combat and mech suits.
Jem Alexander: How does Lego Harry Potter differ from previous Lego games?
Jonathan Smith: With every new game we make we try to raise the bar and there are lots of technical innovations in Lego Harry Potter. The new layer of physics makes the world more realistic and enable us to build with Lego using magic in a way you've never been able to do before.
And taking advantage of this wonderful setting of Hogwarts and the magical characters within it, we can use magic to create a new kind of lego gameplay as well, with characters that learn new spells over a long period of time, so that they're always progressing over what is a very sizeable adventure...
196w ago - Sony's PlayStation 2 console turns ten years old today (yesterday in some parts of the world) and was first shown at a Japanese event in 1999.
Launch titles were limited, with Ridge Racer 5 and Street Fighter EX3 standing out. The machine went on to launch later that year in both the US and EU, hitting on October 26 and November 24 respectively.
To quote: "Ten years ago today on March 5th, 2000, Sony released the first version of the PlayStation 2 in Japan, which means the game-console is essentially turning 10 years old today.
The PS2 was later released in North America on October 26, 2000. With more than 140 million units sold as of September 2009, the PlayStation 2 has become the best-selling video game-console of all time and sales are surprsingly still going strong.
Believe it or not, several new games are scheduled to be released for the platform this year.
It's definitely a great milestone for such a revolutionary and innovative game-console that really changed the way we played video games. Happy 10th birthday to the PlayStation 2!"
