400°
224w ago - Sony's Senior Social Media Specialist Rey Gutierrez has shared a video today as part of their celebration dubbed Sony PlayStation: 15 Years In The Making.

To quote: Today we celebrate 15 Years of PlayStation, the gaming industry and most importantly, the PlayStation fan. It is an honor to officially kick off our celebration on the PlayStation.Blog with a retrospective journey and history lesson 15 years in the making.

The PlayStation, the PlayStation 2, the PlayStation Portable, the PlayStation 3 – these aren't just names to Sony gaming products – these are milestones in every gamers' coming of age story.

Twisted Metal, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, Killzone and God of War, aren't just clever titles to PlayStation classics – but defining moments in gaming history where PlayStation stands above the rest, delivering memorable experiences and jaw-dropping moments.

Sitting at PlayStation and being part of this amazing journey as a gamer and now working with the PlayStation team, I can't help but recollect my first encounter with Metal Gear Solid.

Within moments of popping in my PlayStation Underground disc, and booting the MGS demo – I knew right there and then what I wanted to do with my life....

Sony's PlayStation Store Celebrates 15 Years of Innovation

200°
224w ago - Yesterday we reported that PlayStation Home began the 15-year mark celebrations, and today Ro Hernandez of the PlayStation Store Team has extended the news to the PSN store with some sale items and more!

To quote: As many of you are already aware, today marks a monumental milestone for gamers in North America.

Fifteen years ago, the original PlayStation console was introduced, forever altering the entertainment experience for our loyal PlayStation fans and revolutionizing the video game industry.

In order to celebrate our 15-year anniversary with you, we are launching a new category on the PlayStation Store (look under New Releases) that will hold classic content in PlayStation's history.

Today, we're kicking off the celebration with a sale on Super Rub 'a' Dub. How does this fit into PlayStation's history? Well some of you may not know that the ducks in Super Rub 'a' Dub were used in a tech demo at E3 2005 to show the processing power of the PlayStation 3.

Along with Super Rub 'a' Dub, we will also have a sale on Suikoden, an iconic RPG from Konami that launched within the first year of the PlayStation's release. Finally, be sure to...

Video: Gears Of War 3: Ashes to Ashes Trailer & Box Art Arrive

400°
246w ago - Epic's Cliff Bleszinski debuted the first cinematic trailer for Gears of War 3: Ashes to Ashes for the XBox 360 on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

The title is tentatively slated to arrive on consoles around April 8, 2011.

To quote: "Gears 3 is packing all sorts of new hotness, including those recently leaked tentacle-having, mutating Lambent Locusts, (you might remember the ending of Gears 2, and a certain Brumak...).

In the new game there's an even greater threat called The Lambent, and it's these kind of crazy tenticle monsters that can mutate while you're fighting them.

Double barrelled shotguns, a beard-wearing (apparently) Dom Santiago, female COG soldiers... it's looking a treat. Such a dreary, ash-filled world Sera has become. We should get a even better look at the game during E3 in June."

XBox 360 Dashboard Ad Reveals Gears Of War 3 Hits in April 2011

50°
246w ago - Somebody at Microsoft appears to have flicked a switch a little early, with an advertisement appearing on the Xbox 360 dashboard tonight for Gears of War 3.

There's the trademark Gears of War logo, and a tagline that reads "The epic story concludes April 2011".

To quote: The ad appears to have jumped the proverbial gun, with the official reveal of the game not expected to have taken place until an appearance from Epic's Cliff Bleszinski on the Jimmy Fallon show on Monday night.

He of course was supposed to have been on the show, well, last night, but his appearance was pulled at the last minute. Guess somebody forgot to pass that onto the Xbox 360's ad team!

Despite the lack of an official reveal, it's already been rumoured that the third game in the Xbox 360 shooter series will feature franchise firsts like like underwater combat and mech suits.

247w ago - Today Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has unveiled a UK Q&A for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 for both PS3 and PSP.

To quote: With [Register or Login to view links] casting a spell on PS3 and PSP this Spring, [Register or Login to view links]'s Jem Alexander met up with [Register or Login to view links]' Jonathan Smith to find out more about the games. Y'know, cos SCEE offices are pretty close by the Ministry of Magic.

[Register or Login to view links]: How does Lego Harry Potter differ from previous Lego games?

Jonathan Smith: With every new game we make we try to raise the bar and there are lots of technical innovations in Lego Harry Potter. The new layer of physics makes the world more realistic and enable us to build with Lego using magic in a way you've never been able to do before.

And taking advantage of this wonderful setting of Hogwarts and the magical characters within it, we can use magic to create a new kind of lego gameplay as well, with characters that learn new spells over a long period of time, so that they're always progressing over what is a very sizeable adventure...
