Disney Making New Tr2n Game And Tron Movie Slated for 2011?

50°
285w ago - Disney Interactive Studios is rumored to be developing a brand new Tron game, said to be released to tie-in with the new Tron movie in 2011.

If true, it is certainly going to make a lot of sci-fi geeks and gamers 'of a certain age' very happy indeed.

To quote: Disney releases the sequel to 1982's videogame-themed Tron, currently under the working title of Tr2n, in 2011.

The rumors that a game is also in development emerged from [Register or Login to view links] in Hollywood trade paper Variety, backed up by reports over on The Cut Scene blog ramping up belief in the (not really majorly surprising) rumor that a Tr2n game is in development.

Disney Interactive Studios recently laid off 30 staff at Propaganda Games (the creators of last year's Turok) and have merged two of their six internal developers, Fall Line and Avalanche, to focus on games based on Disney animated films.

Films like Tr2n perhaps? Although we would imagine Propaganda, with its focus on adult-themed games, might be better placed to handle dev duties on this one...

Stay tuned for official confirmation (or denial)...

Rumor: Disney to offer official LittleBigPlanet Downloadable Content

50°
307w ago - Thuway, a member of NeoGAF, claims that he has learned at PAX that LittleBigPlanet will have Official Disney downloadable content.

In addition to this revelation, Infamous is targeted for a May 2009 release.

To quote: (BTW- Insomniac, he is seriously one of the most genuine PR guys I've ever met. He is truly a class act.)

Secondly, while the majority of people at the event just play the previews, I like to take time out and actually talk to the developers and get insight into gaming production. I found out some amazing bomb shells, most of which I have my mouth zipped on, but here are two things that won't get me in trouble I hope.

1. LBP will have official Disney DLC.
2. Infamous is targeted for May 2009.

Finally, major props to the editors at 1up, and Bombcast. The Gameworks after party was pretty rad. The guys did a great job of showing that they were gamers, just like you or I, and had a great time treating readers / listeners like peers and colleagues.

I talked to Shane in particular, for God knows how long, oh I know he's reading this and knows who I am. It was like a conversation out of an episode of the 1up Show.

"Ultimate Band invites kids, tweens and teens to join in the jam session," said Craig Relyea, senior vice president, global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. "And whether they choose guitar, drums, bass or front man, members don't need to buy costly, single-function peripherals to play their way through Ultimate Band's deep song list, dynamic venues, and customizable characters. The Wii Remote and DS stylus are the only tools they'll need to reach rock stardom in Ultimate Band."

Working with leading London-based music consultants, Radial Music, Disney has chosen to combine familiar classics with today's hottest songs in creating Ultimate Band...

PSU attends Disney's Magical Blu-ray Tour

50°
356w ago - PSU.com has recently had the chance to venture to Seattle, Washington and attend Disney's Magical Blu-ray Tour, and we are back to tell you of our adventures.

Disney has been touring the United States with the help of Panasonic, and other companies such as Monster Cables, and Sony. There are several stops in major cities across the US, in which a Blu-ray demonstration booth is set up. This booth is loaded with several of Panasonics flat screen HDTV's each hooked up to a Blu-ray player. We spotted two PlayStation 3 consoles hooked up in addition to several Panasonic players.

The tour's target audience is families, with a strong promotion of family friendly titles such as Cars, Ratatouille, and Pirates of the Caribbean being displayed. The tour is not just for children though, a spoken presentation with video integration gives a brief history describing Disney's strive to stay on top of the technology and dedication to entertainment is actually quite entertaining and informative. It is a great way to show the benefits of Blu-ray to people who do not know. However, anyone who already owns Blu-ray will not likely benefit as much from this presentation.

Presentations aside, the displays they have set up are very nice to say the least. Shown at our stop were looping videos promoting Blu-ray...
