273w ago - Crysis Warhead is currently available at your closet retail store or even on Steam, but there are some who made the decision that shelling out $29.99 isn't worth it.
For those who can't waste their time pulling out their wallets, are most likely already on their favorite file-sharing software, and downloading the leaked version of Crysis Warhead. Luckily for us who bought the game, we can still enjoy it with the upper edge as no real crack has been released.
What does this mean? It means people who pirate the game can install it, but won't be able to launch the title. YES, +1 for legit gamers... that is until a hack group comes along and creates the crack unleashing the wave of piracy.
Will it be bigger than Spore? Most likely no, but regardless it will be quite the popular file.
273w ago - Not quite a full fledged sequel but never feeling like a tacked on expansion pack, Crysis Warhead finds the perfect balance for fans of the first installment all the while adding just enough new material to keep new recruits interested.
BOTTOM LINE: If you're a fan of the original or if you simply missed Crysis the first time around, Crysis Warhead is a prime example of an excellent, if relatively short, FPS experience.
Making things go "Boom" Crysis Warhead takes place simultaneously with the original Crysis, recapping the events of what happened on the other side of the game's infamous island. You fill the cybernetic boots of everyone's favorite sociopathic Brit, Sergeant Sykes - AKA Psycho - and must battle your way through both a barrage of highly armed KPA radicals as well as a swarm of exosuit wielding aliens. And you thought your day job was tough.
Now, before we go any further, let's tackle the big question: can your computer run it? I had the good fortune of testing Crysis Warhead on three separate PCs - a high end PC with a graphics card to match and dual core processors, the $699 Crysis Warhead PC, and a lower end $499 computer with a run-of-the-mill graphics card and rather basic processor. I'm more than happy to report that on all three machines, the game ran incredibly...
273w ago - Have you yet to purchase Crysis? Take out that best buy gift card you have lying around, and use it because the game is getting better, and better each day.
Even better Crysis Warhead is coming out, and I'm sure that you can put that good old best buy gift card to good use. That's unless your planing on getting Star Wars the same day. The modding community is been ever expanding.
This morning we posted about a portal gun for the game that would allow you to teleport yourself. Now we have something more visual that may please the eyes. The mod community has been working on config files for the game for the past year. One member known as [HP] has done a fantastic job of polishing up the file to maximize your graphics.
Yes, that's right you can achieve graphics beyond the highest setting currently available. The hefty requirements are that you have a Nvidia 8800 graphic card, as well as 2GB of ram. What makes this config file better than the current one installed on your computer?
- Better shadows
- Parallax Mapping
- Very high quality textures, terrain and vegetation
- Lightning improved
- High Quality particles
- Tweaked Lods for best FPS/Quality relation.
Still not convinced to use that best buy card to go purchase the...
274w ago - In a job posting at the Official Kojima productions Web site, Hideo Kojima reportedly stated that "the creativity of video games is now on the verge of crisis. Massive advertising campaigns are executed for games before their entertainment values are put into consideration all too often, resulting in sell-off tactics happening without hesitation."
To quote: Metal Gear Solid 4 creator Hideo Kojima, who promoted the game with a rock star launch party here in the United States, has today criticized the game industry for over hyping video games and hurting sales.
The complaint arrived via a job posting at the Kojima Productions web site, were Kojima lamented that "the creativity of video games is now on the verge of crisis. Massive advertising campaigns are executed for games before their entertainment values are put into consideration all too often, resulting in sell-off tactics happening without hesitation."
276w ago - Crysis was thankfully blessed with an editor that allowed gamers to create their own mods, assets, and levels. I remember visiting a Crysis modification site, and taking a look at a modification that would drop a nuke and deplete everything in it's path for a good few miles. Today I came across another modification.
This time it's a custom level built for Crysis, and boy am I beyond belief. If you think you've put hard work into a modification then maybe you should take a look at the following pictures.
This medieval level is known as Niveus, and the artist who created this stunning level is Andrew "androkles" Hasko. The level is currently reported to run at 5fps on his machine. I'm right now speechless after taking a look at the pictures. Video can be seen below.. Enjoy.
