39w ago - Following up on the previous PS Vita Dual Firmware Boot PoC demo, today Sony PlayStation Vita hacker [Register or Login to view links] has made available details on dumping games from PS Vita cartridges.

Below are the details, as follows: Dumping games from PS Vita Cartridges is now possible! - The beginning of piracy?

After Yifan Lu’s great hardware reports about the PS Vita, its motherboard and its nand, our user Katsu found a way for dual booting the PS Vita, which can kind of be seen as a downgrade solution.

But that is not everything that he was able to do. Katsu is on fire and also looked at the Vita cartridges... see below for some more electronics joy!

PS Vita Cartridge dumps now Possible - Does this enable piracy?

Katsu seems to be able to dump a PS Vita cartridge - you know, those tiny physical modules that contain PS Vita games, a cartridge, like we know them from the Nintendo DS and 3DS - and is therefore able to retrieve the games in the format how they...

To quote: I found a way for blitting information on the XMB screen, it is not perfect atm and work only in main XMB, not ingame. I found some bitmap-data in main ram, and poke other RGBA values on this place.

I make a simple framebuffer, print text in him and poke him on the screen. The example have only a blue background and white text, but more complex things are possible, inclusive nice interactive GUIs.

Carnivores HD: Dinosaur Hunter Stomps Onto PS3 Next Week

50°
45w ago - Vogster Entertainment LLC Project Lead Artem Kuryavchenko confirmed today that Carnivores HD: Dinosaur Hunter stomps onto PS3 next week.

To quote: Carnivores HD: Dinosaur Hunter was recently released in North America, and we have been more than happy to see the gamers' response. Since then we have gathered tons of user feedback and made a lot of improvements to gameplay, tweaking and polishing the game balance. And now we're excited to have the game out in Europe.

Carnivores HD is a realistic hunting simulator which brings you to beautiful islands and lets you hunt for the most dangerous creatures that have ever existed. You'll get a chance to track down Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Ceratosaurus and a T-Rex! There are also flying Pteranodons, small and peaceful Gallimimuses and cute tiny Pelecanimimuses roaming around.

Each location is a different island about four square kilometers in size, and features a unique environment. There are deserts, jungles and deep forests. Each level comes in three variations: daytime, evening, and misty.

Being a hunting simulator, the game renders wildlife realistically. Animals make use of natural senses - sight, hearing, smell - that are unique to each creature. Dinosaurs behave differently depending on the environment,...

Video: NBA 2K14 PS4 Developer Diary: MyCAREER on PlayStation 4

46w ago - 2K Games Senior Community Manager Ronnie Singh posted up a video today showcasing NBA 2K14 as part of their PS4 Developer Diary dubbed MyCAREER on PlayStation 4.

To quote: MyCAREER has been one of NBA 2K14's most-played modes. The question is, with the next generation of technology, how do we create a fresh experience beyond playing games on the court? Creating a new cinematic experience that rivals a Hollywood film - that's how!

With over 300 pages of script, MyCAREER on PS4 takes you on an emotional journey like you've never experienced before. Our goal was to place you IN the game. From competing on the court, to decisions you make off the court, the experience has been expanded in an immersive journey through next gen technology.

For example, early on you may not get the minutes you want as a rookie. As your team calls a timeout, you have a decision to make - remain sitting or get up and celebrate with your teammates. Each decision affects the way you are viewed both from your team's viewpoint and the way fans look at you. This is just one of many deep decisions you make, with your actions opening up hours and hours of completely new content both on and off the court.

Things like personality, choosing...

Video: OlliOlli on PlayStation Vita: Career Mode Explained

50°
51w ago - Roll7 Director Tom Hegarty shared a video explaining the Career Mode in OlliOlli on PlayStation Vita below today.

To quote: Hello! It was back in June that we last posted here. At that point we were about to embark on our first E3 trip with a very early build of the game.

Needless to say a lot has changed since then! Player physics have been tweaked, we've redesigned a ton of grindable assets and we've also settled on the final modes of the game (there are four in total!).

In this post we want to concentrate on the most important game mode, Career, as it helps you unlock both Spots Mode and Rad Mode as well as preparing you for the do-or-die, risk it all, Daily Grind.

In Career you are confronted with the task of completing 50 Levels split across five stages: Urban, Junkyard, Port, Base and Neon, with 10 levels per Stage. The levels are split into 'Amateur' and 'Pro' to help the player skill-up as they progress. The Amateur levels follow a linear path - complete Urban 1 to unlock Urban 2, Complete Urban 5 to Unlock Junkyard 1.

However, merely completing a level is least of your worries! Each level has five challenges, two of which are always score challenges, one based on overall score...
