224w ago - As reported last week, the PlayStation 3 Slim console is now available at GameStop.
When GameHeadzOnline.com (linked above) asked the manager about the PS3 Slim's early arrival, he told them the PS3 Slim consoles "came in today, and they have Sony's blessing to sell them."
In related news, Kotaku is reporting that Best Buy is now offering free PS3 games to prevent standard PS3 trade-ins.
To quote: "An internal memo (below), verified independently by a number of employees at different stores, shows that Best Buy is offering people who come into the store to exchange recently purchased PlayStation 3's for the newly released PS3 Slim a choice of a free PlayStation 3 title and price match in lieu of the new slimmer, larger-hard-drive sporting console.
Due to the interest in the new Slim model, the memo warns, stores may see people trying to return their console for the newer model. Before doing the exchange, a store is allowed to offer a choice of a free copy of Infamous, MLB 09 The Show or Killzone 2. Not a bad selection, but is it worth more than the smaller footprint and bigger hard...
226w ago - This is apparently attack of the alleged PS3 Slim ads day... two retailers from two different sources claim they snagged pics of the upcoming ads.
Gizmodo (linked above) reports that they received photos of a 120GB PS3 Slim listed for $299.99 in a K-Mart flyer.
The story on the second set of pics supposedly from a Best Buy ad comes from TheBigManAndGarrett who are reporting the following from their source, to quote:
"I cannot reveal my exact role, however, I can tell you that I work closely with the marketing department at Best Buy. This ad is a mock up at best of the ad to be released in just over two weeks.
I cannot comment on the NeoGAF PS3 mock up as this is the material that we're working with. Many images are often used as placeholders. The final ad will be touched up for grammar, punctuation, etc. Hope this helps."
That being said, the general consensus thus far is they are fakes... all we can do is wait until next week to see if the PS3 Slim makes an appearance at...
226w ago - Today a Best Buy listing for PlayStation Network Cards appears to reveal that $10 PSN Cards are coming soon to PlayStation 3 and PSP owners.
No word yet on whether they will also hit Europe, however, US buyers can currently add them to their carts for $10 each.
To quote: Looks like the $10 PSN cards are real, and coming soon.
Currently only $20 and $50 PSN cards are readily available for purchase, but soon enough the $10 cards will make their way to store shelves, while giving everyone a more affordable choice to reward or gift that gamer in your life.
229w ago - Recently we added Glyde.com to our Affiliates here at PS3 News, and for those who haven't checked them out yet below is a brief background on what they offer to gamers.
Glyde was simply designed to be the cheapest and easiest way to buy and sell used (and new) video games - as well as DVDs, CDs and books.
The idea was conceived by the owners themselves, who were frustrated by the lack of decent options to buy and sell games (online auctions and swapping sites are a lot of work, and trade-ins are generally a bad deal) so Glyde was born... allowing sellers to get a fair price for their games and buyers to get some great bargains.
This concept was then simplified on Glyde so that a seller can list a game for sale in under 10 seconds.
And when it sells, Glyde sends the seller a postage-paid padded mailer that comes pre-addressed to the buyer. The only thing the seller needs to do is insert the game, seal the mailer, and drop it in the mail.
It doesn't get much easier than that, as Glyde was built specifically to...
