Neon Alley will be a subscription-based service available to all PS3 owners in the U.S. and Canada for $6.99 per month. Okami HD at Comic-Con: Amaterasu Unleashed with Move, 1080p

50°
107w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared details today of Okami HD from Comic-Con: Amaterasu Unleashed which includes PlayStation Move support and 1080p!

To quote: San Diego Comic-Con doesn't want for distractions - famous graphic novelists greet their fans, uber-limited edition collectables line sprawling tables, and cosplayers roam the halls by the thousands.

When I learned that Capcom would be showing Okami HD at their booth, all of those attractions quickly dropped in importance; I knew where my Comic-Con would kick off.

Mere seconds after the doors of the San Diego Convention Center opened for business, [Register or Login to view links] Tristan Corbett handed me a PlayStation Move motion controller and I beheld Japanese sun goddess-turned-canine Amaterasu in full HD glory for the first time.

Not all HD remakes are created equal, but Hexa Drive's effort clearly isn't just a soulless re-processing. With the PS3's hardware muscle to play with, they're working to improve draw distance and load times over the PS2 original.

The cel-shaded visuals up-rez quite nicely, with the game's iconic bold, black outline strokes popping off the HD display. All cutscenes have been fully recreated, and areas of the game that the team felt weren't...

Sony Announces Malicious Awakens on PlayStation Network July 24th

200°
107w ago - Sony Assistant Producer Dais Kawaguchi has announced today that Malicious will be awakening on PlayStation Network this July 24th for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: Malicious, a new, original action game for PS3 from Japanese studio [Register or Login to view links], is coming to PSN July 24th. That's in less than two weeks!

In Malicious, you'll take control of a "Spirit Vessel" awakened by prophets to defeat Holders, evil giants bent on destroying The Kingdom. You're armed with the Mantle of Cinders, a magical artifact that takes the form of weapons or a shield.

Rather than crawling through lengthy dungeons to find and defeat enemies, this game gives you the power to select whichever stage you want and jump directly into epic boss battles in whatever order you please.

Upon defeating each boss, you'll absorb its power to obtain new and unique abilities, so the choice is yours as to how you'll progress. In the end, however, you have one goal – prepare to face the ultimate evil, Malicious!

Malicious will be available for $9.99 on the PlayStation Network starting July 24. We'll be announcing more information in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

EVO 2012 Details Incoming: PlayStation All-Stars in the Spotlight

100°
107w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared details today on EVO 2012, including PlayStation All-Stars in the spotlight below!

To quote: [Register or Login to view links] in the 2012 Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition finals late Sunday night marked the close of EVO 2012, the annual championship that sees international fighting game experts compete in top fighters like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Virtua Fighter 5, and Tekken 6.

This year, SuperBot Entertainment attended the competition to show off the PS3 and PS Vita versions of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, the studio's upcoming love letter to PlayStation history and the fighting game genre.

Here Comes a New Challenger

PlayStation All-Stars' EVO showing included a chance to sample newly announced characters Heihachi and Toro. Intitially, I had the most luck with [Register or Login to view links], using his deadly [Register or Login to view links] bombs, shuriken blasts, and comical bicycle kicks to torment foes from a safe distance.

But despite his adorable appearance and goofy combat style, Toro is no lightweight. He's...

New Awesomenauts Update, Characters Deploying Soon on PSN

50°
107w ago - Ronimo Games Producer Robin Meijer has announced today news of a new Awesomenauts update, with characters deploying soon on PSN!

To quote: It's been about two months since Awesomenauts launched on PlayStation Network, and we're thrilled to see that the community has grown to be so active and vibrant.

Teaming up with Sony to make Awesomenauts part of May's PlayStation Plus offer has really helped to get our multiplayer platforming-shooter off to a running start. And now, we're almost ready to launch the first big update for our game!

In this update, we've addressed two key concerns that we've heard from the community: balance and content. After two months of solid playing, we can confirm that the balance in the original version is pretty good, but not perfect.

With this patch, we're taking a couple of steps to further improve this balance, and bring it closer to where we want it to be. We've buffed some characters, and nerfed those who deserved it.

This patch doesn't just bring boring stat changes, though. We've got some new characters for you, too! Coco Nebulon and Derpl Zork will join the original six Awesomenauts very, very soon. What we haven't told you yet though, is that they're going to be free!

So, let's talk about Coco...
