PopCap Games: Plants vs Zombies for PS Vita Hits PSN Today

300°
113w ago - PopCap Games Director of Editorial and Social Media Jeff Green has announced that Plants vs Zombies for PS Vita is hitting PSN today with details below.

To quote: I know it's been over a year since we last spoke, and I am sorry about that. I've just been really busy and haven't had time to write, and I swear I have not been cheating on you with the Xbox blog or anything.

Anyway, now that the awkwardness is out of the way and we're friends again, I am here to tell you that I have another exciting announcement for you! Plants Vs Zombies is coming to your brand-spankin' new PS Vita today! Yay!

If you have never played our action-puzzler – that pits a horde of horticultural heroes against a mob of fetid, undead, brain-eating zombies - there is no better time than now. The PS Vita version is darn near the most perfect version of Plants Vs Zombies yet, taking advantage of the handheld console's touchscreen and internal motion sensors.

And if you have played it before, well, why not play it again?

Think of it as training for the real zombie apocalypse, which, not to be too much of a bummer here, could be coming any day now. Why be one of the unfortunate ones who end up in some undead guy's brain sandwich? Do the responsible thing and prepare now with our game!...

Starhawk Beta Open to US PSN Users Today & EU Tomorrow, Tips

200°
113w ago - Sony Senior Producer Harvard Bonin has announced that the Starhawk PS3 Beta officially opens to US PSN users today and Europeans tomorrow, with some PlayStation 3 tips available below!

To quote: We're happy to announce (remind) everyone that the Starhawk Multiplayer Beta is open to ALL COMERS today, Tuesday, February 21st only on the PlayStation Network!

You don't have to "like" us on Facebook, you don't have to "accept a special offer" and you don't have to sign up for any service (that is, except for the PlayStation Network free service)! Everyone is welcome to join! Just check the PlayStation Store and prepare yourself for a good time!

In the coming weeks we'll be upgrading the Beta a ton. You can expect a new map, new vehicles, new weapons, 32-player max matches and more. Remember, this is still a beta, not a demo. We are actively finding and fixing problems – and we need your feedback!

The Starhawk Beta will not last forever. When we're done testing it will go "bye-bye"... and so I wrote a poem to illustrate my point...

The Starhawk Serenade

If you don't try Starhawk you'll be sad,
While your friends are having fun you'll be mad,
It's such an easy download,
Your head may explode!

Tomorrow, PlayStation Vita launches across the PAL regions and here is the full list of what will be available to download when PlayStation Store is live on the system later this evening.

We believe that the PS Vita launch line-up is the strongest in PlayStation history and this list of games and other content, some of which is completely free, is testament to that.

Don't forget that if you already own Hustle Kings, Top Darts or Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom DLC on PS3, you can also use it on your PS Vita at no extra charge.

Have a blast and look forward to the PS3 store update coming soon. See you (or the digital formations of you) there.

Sony Announces Retro City Rampage Coming to PS Vita and PS3

200°
113w ago - Today Developer Brian Provinciano has announced that Retro City Rampage is coming to both PS Vita and the PS3 entertainment system with details below.

To quote: Let's get right to it – Retro City Rampage is coming to PS3 and PS Vita!

I couldn't be more excited to finally share the news. For those not familiar with RCR, it's an over-the-top open-world crime game that combines everything you loved in classic games and mashes them up into a "toon town" of nostalgia and parody.

Steal cars, and then jump on pedestrians for big shiny coins. Collect power-ups and outrun the law while rampaging the city, shooting a light gun or swinging your bionic arm.

Fans of Grand Theft Auto will feel right at home with RCR, but the missions extend far beyond driving and shooting. They fuse classic gaming and modern mechanics to span virtually every genre, from stealth to platforming, adventure, rhythm and more- there are even underwater levels.

What I'm most proud of is that everything flows together using the same mechanics and visuals. Even missions inspired by '80s coin-op games seamlessly take place in the open-world.

It really is a massive game with something for everyone. It boasts a full story mode with over...

Sony CEO Andy House Interview: Gearing Up for PlayStation Vita

50°
113w ago - Sony Manager James Gallagher has shared an interview today with CEO Andy House on gearing up for PlayStation Vita below!

To quote: The launch of PlayStation Vita is just two days away and hopefully your thumbs are twitching at the prospect of getting it into your hands and enjoying what we believe is the strongest launch line-up of games in PlayStation history.

One man that has had a part to play in that history is Andy House, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. I recently spoke to him about life in Japan, the imminent launch of PS Vita and how we as a business are welcoming this proud new addition to the PlayStation family.

PlayStation.Blog: This is your second time working in Tokyo, how has the Japanese games market changed in the time you've been away?

Andy House, President and CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment: Well that intervening period was 15 years so things have changed dramatically. What's interesting, and the one thing that hasn't really changed, is that you still see these sales spikes of a system based on a single major game release, and I think that Japan is the most content-driven of the three major markets in that sense.

The other difference is that there seems to be a shift in Japanese gamers' habits - in the...
