Video: First Look at Doki-Doki Universe in Action on PlayStation 4

50°
71w ago - HumaNature Studios Founder Greg Johnson shared a video today that offers a first look at Doki-Doki Universe in action on the PlayStation 4 / PS4 console below.

To quote: Hi. I'm Greg, the designer of Sony's new game Doki-Doki Universe and I run a small game studio called HumaNature Studios. In years past, I created a game you may be familiar with, called ToeJam and Earl.

Announced just last month, Doki-Doki Universe is a game about humanity and emotional expression. It's sweet and quirky and hopefully a little thought provoking.

If you're interested in a change of pace, you may find it interesting. We hope so, anyway. To give you a better idea for how the game plays, we've put together this fun trailer for you:

Doki-Doki Universe is more than a game. It's a cross-platform ecosystem built around a unique universe of personal discovery. And as you can see in the trailer, the universe you explore is vibrant, fun and playful.

There are tons of different places to explore, characters to meet, objects to collect and conjure up, and there are even fun reflective quizzes to take.

However, the most important thing you should take away is that Doki-Doki Universe is about creating an emotionally engaging experience that will help you learn about yourself.

Video: Introducing The PlayRoom on PS4, Only for PlayStation 4

71w ago - Sony Producer Nicolas Doucet posted up a video today introducing The PlayRoom on PS4, and only for PlayStation 4 below!

To quote: Hi everybody! We're excited to unlock the doors to The PlayRoom, a place for fun and innovative PlayStation 4 Camera and DualShock 4 controller experiments!

As we recently announced, the DualShock 4 controller is packed with lots of new features (such as Light Bar, Touch Pad, Motion Sensor, Speaker, improved Dual Motors...). So what happens when we combine these with the PlayStation 4 Camera? Well, let us show you with this new video!

Let's start with the AR Menu. The first thing you will notice is how the Light Bar is tracked by the PlayStation 4 Camera. This allows us to make cool augmentations like these holographic panels, which come out of the controller and appear around you on the screen.

Using the Touch Pad, you can scroll through them and click to make selections. It's easy to use and very responsive, thanks to the high resolution of the Touch Pad.

Another cool finding is one we nicknamed "the sci-fi genie". By rubbing the Touch Pad like a magic lamp, you can summon Asobi, an interactive flying robot who comes out to play in your living room....

Octodad: Dadliest Catch Crashes, Stumbles, and Flops on to PS4

71w ago - Young Horses President & Co-Founder Phil Tibitoski announced at E3 today that Octodad: Dadliest Catch will be crashing, stumbling and flopping on to PS4 / PlayStation 4 console.

To quote: Have you ever felt out of place? Just don't feel you're good enough, no matter how hard you try? Maybe you've got something to hide from the world.

Maybe you're not really the perfect human husband and father of three, but actually an octopus. This is what Octodad: Dadliest Catch is all about. You have a loving wife. You have adorable kids. They, however, have no idea of your secret cephalopod nature.

[Register or Login to view links] is the first slapstick fatherhood simulator, and we're excited to say that we'll be bringing it to the PlayStation 4 in 2014.

You may be asking yourself, "Well, what's so difficult about being an octopus?"

Well, first off, you're an invertebrate, so you have no bones. Your body is gelatinous. As you can imagine, that makes it hard to simply move around outside of water.

All those things we humans take for granted, like counteracting gravity, are a constant challenge. Oh, and you have eight arms you've managed to stuff into a fancy suit to form a human shape. There are...

Red Barrels: Outlast Will Scare the Heck Out of You on PS4

71w ago - Red Barrels Co-Founder Philippe Morin promises PS4 fans today that Outlast will scare the heck out of you on the PlayStation 4 console.

To quote: Hi, I'm Philippe Morin from Red Barrels! Together with co-founders David Chateauneuf and Hugo Dallaire, we started an indie studio for one reason: to use our experience working on games like Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Assassin's Creed to make the horror game we've been talking about with each other for years.

We're all big horror fans, especially David, and the game we wanted to make, a realistic survival horror game, wasn't the type of thing any big companies were willing to take a risk on. So we're taking the risk ourselves with Outlast, a survival horror, stealth-based game set in an abandoned asylum, coming to PS4 next year!

The best games make you feel something, some type of emotion that sticks with you after you're done playing. And fear is one of the most powerful emotions we can have as human beings. So for us, to make the best game possible, we know that we have to scare the heck out of you. We're trying to do that in a number of different ways, but where we start is with the design.

In Outlast you play as a journalist with no weapons or fighting ability. You're powerless and...
