Video: Sony Putting the Finishing Touches on Starhawk for PS3

109w ago - Sony Senior Producer Harvard Bonin has shared a video today of the finishing touches being put on Starhawk for PS3 below.

To quote: Recently, the PlayStation.Blog paid a visit to our good friends and partner LightBox Interactive in Austin, Texas during SXSW.

While there, we unlocked the vault and loosened the chains on Mr. Dylan Jobe, LightBox President and CEO. That can be a very dangerous prospect as we never know what we're going to get, it's also fun to hear about all the details on the Starhawk front, including how the public beta affected the game's development. The teams at LightBox and Santa Monica are working incredibly hard to make sure the Starhawk experience is everything the fans deserve.

To give you some insight into that process, Dylan has some thoughts about "crunch time," fans, and game-typy stuff. Starhawk is headed in for a landing and this is a cool look into the mind of a developer at the peak of his game. Check it out!

Sega Unveils Tokyo Tour Through Eyes of Yakuza: Dead Souls PS3

109w ago - Sega of America Community Manager Kellie Parker has shared a virtual tour of Tokyo this weekend through the eyes of Yakuza: Dead Souls on the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: Many people dream of visiting Tokyo and a few lucky ones actually get to go. If the long flights, heavy suitcases and language barriers just aren't in the cards for you, don't fret.

You can still see some actual real-life Tokyo sights, restaurants, amusements and more in Yakuza: Dead Souls - which is out now on PS3, by the way.

Just like any good tourist guidebook, here's a map of Kamurocho (a city inspired by the famous red light district in Tokyo), with a numbered list of restaurants, advertising and more that are actually real-life things. We've also added the location of the first three zombie bosses*. We're just nice like that.

*The location of these items doesn't match those that can be found in real-life.

Also, we must warn you: there are no zombies in the real Tokyo - at least, as far as we know - but there are many, many more of them in Yakuza: Dead Souls than we've shown on this map. We'll let you find them all (or let them find you first)!

Video: Play Real Guitar on Your PlayStation 3 with Rocksmith

109w ago - Creative Director Paul Cross of the Rocksmith Team has shared a video today demonstrating how to play real guitar on your PlayStation 3 with Rocksmith.

To quote: My name is Paul Cross and I am the Creative Director on the Rocksmith Team.

My previous projects include Burnout, Skate and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle - and I want give you a little bit of background on Rocksmith, a music game that lets you plug a real guitar into your PS3 and play along to a great list of well-known rock songs when it comes to Europe this September.

The project started in early 2008 when Ubisoft started talking to a company called Game Tank. These guys had a tech demo that allowed the player to plug in any real guitar into a PS3, and the game would tell them if they were playing the right notes at the right times. Ubisoft liked the demo so much that they bought the company!

When Nao Higo, Sr. Producer and I first started on what was to become Rocksmith in October 2009, it was a tech demo called 'Guitar Rising' that featured sideways scrolling tablature and a number of difficulty levels you could select from. Here's a promo vid of Guitar Rising from way back in the day:
