Video: Wheels of Destruction Weapon Guide for PlayStation 3

100°
108w ago - Today Lead Designer Peter Porai-Koshits has shared some new video footage of Wheels of Destruction including a weapon guide for PlayStation 3 fans.

To quote: The weapon system in Wheels of Destruction is beautifully familiar yet dynamic and designed to keep the game balanced. Players who know class-based shooters like Unreal Tournament and Team Fortress 2 will instantly feel at home.

The game has four weapon types, each with primary and alternate fire conveniently selectable on the d-pad. This simple and intuitive system actually provides 11 unique ways to decimate opponents.

The Gatling gun is the initial weapon that everyone has from the start of a match. Available to the player throughout, it never runs out of ammo but is relatively weak and imprecise.

However, its alternate fire is tremendously powerful - it's a very short-ranged spread shot shotgun with massive force. Players with great skill and a bit of luck can land an instant kill shot but, most of the time, you're better off hunting for new weapons.

The next gun is almost as accessible and familiar - the rockets and mortar. Like many games, the rocket is pretty straight-forward. It's not necessarily a 'noobtube,' but it doesn't take much strategy to get in a quick kill shot.

Sony PlayStation Plus Updates for the Week of April 4, 2012

100°
108w ago - Sony's Ross McGrath of the PlayStation Store Team is here with the European PSN updates for the week of April 4th today, as follows below:

Hey guys, sorry we're a bit late to market this week with our content update, but hopefully you'll feel as though it's worth waiting for and very much in keeping with the quality you've come to expect this year.

It's always a good feeling to give away content in a single month that more than covers the cost of the annual subscription.

So by now, if you've headed over to the SCEA update you will see they're getting Shift 2: Unleashed and Shank 2 in their update this month, courtesy of the lovely folks at EA.

Here, it's no different, as EA's 145 car, 36 track monster of a racing title is now yours at no cost, alongside the ultra-violent and ultra-awesome grindhouse 2D platform-brawler.

Don't forget there are a huge number of additional cars and a couple of extremely useful time-saver packs available for Shift 2: Unleashed, all available from the PlayStation Store.

The PS one Classic this month is Silent Hill, which I'm sure you'll agree is a proper classic title - never before has radio static been so terrifying. Unfortunately you'll have to wait just one more short week until it's...

Rumor: PlayStation 4 (PS4) to Debut in 2013, Codenamed Orbis?

800°
108w ago - Today Kotaku (linked above) reports that Sony is rumored to debut the PlayStation 4 (PS4) next-generation console in 2013 which is currently assumed to be codenamed as Orbis.

While PS4.SCEDev.net does not currently work, the URL Orbis.SCEDev.net currently resolves to Sony's developer network Web site.

To quote: "While the official reveal of Sony's next home console could still be months away, if not longer, Kotaku has today learned some important details concerning the PlayStation 3's successor.

For one, the console's name- or at least its codename/working title- is apparently Orbis. And it's being planned for release in time for the 2013 holiday season.

The details in this story come from a reliable source who is not authorized to talk publicly about next-gen hardware but has shared correct information with us before. What they're telling us in specifics matches much of what we've heard and reported in generalities in recent weeks.

A Sony spokesperson declined to comment about these details, citing the company's policy not to comment on "rumors or speculation."

WHAT'S IN A NAME

Orbis. Say it out loud. Sounds a little like the word "four", doesn't it? Only it doesn't make the next PlayStation sound like a bad horror movie sequel.

Stickmen Studios Announce Doc Clock Coming to PlayStation Store

100°
108w ago - Stickmen Studios Head of Projects Henry Lane has announced today that Doc Clock is coming to Sony's PlayStation Store with details below.

To quote: Yes that's right; the Doc Clock universe will soon be available to everyone from PlayStation Store.

This is your opportunity to join Doc Clock and his super sarcastic robot companion, SACK, on their first time-traveling adventure.

Save Doc Clock's pet cat Franklin from spending the rest of his life as a potted Cactus.

Build incredible inventions, contort the flow of time and navigate a future controlled by armies of laughably dangerous techno-phobic hippy robots.

Now slow down a second... we're talking about a pet cat... spending his life as a potted plant?! Yes! Well, "Catcus" is more accurate; Doc Clock's inventions have been known to have a slightly limited safety track record. And by 'slightly limited' we mean nonexistent.

Needless to say it was Doc Clock's attempt to make the world's most awesome 'Toasted Sandwich Machine' which resulted in Franklin mutating into a very prickly situation!

Everyone experienced in turning their cat into a photosynthetic hedgehog will know the most logical step to remedying the situation is... to build a time travelling machine. Obviously.

108w ago - Atlus Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has announced today that their reVITAlized PSP price drop event is now live on PSN.

To quote: We (the fine people at Atlus) are dropping prices on our PlayStation Store library of PSP system titles, not unlike the PS Vita's undocumented ability to drop smaller articles of sub-clothing. We're calling it...

Want to own the complete PSP Persona collection, including Persona 3 Portable, which is tied for the second-best-reviewed PSP game of ALL TIME, according to Gamerankings.com?

It is now far more affordable to do so. Also getting a drop in price is the very recent Persona 2: Innocent Sin, a stunning handheld remake of one our company's most highly anticipated games!

Always been a fan of Sting's series of Dept Heaven RPG and SRPG genre-benders? Perhaps you've always been curious to see how Knights in the Nightmare, with its incredibly novel blend of tactical roleplaying and bullet-hell action, looks and plays?

Well, for less than half the price of a new console game, you can own every PSP Dept Heaven game we've ever released (which should set you up nicely for the upcoming June release of Gungnir for PSP, the next entry in the acclaimed series).

Besides the aforementioned two collections,...
