Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is Grinding Onto PSN August 28th

50°
102w ago - Robomodo President Josh Tsui has announced today that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is grinding onto PSN this August 28th.

To quote: Finally, we can talk about Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD for PS3.

We are so grateful for everyone's patience on this, and we want to make sure you all know that everyone at Robomodo and Activision has been busting their butts to get it out there.

Now we can safely announce that after a lot of hard work, sweating and some crying (just a little), the game will be released August 28th on PSN in North America.

Game development is probably the hardest form of entertainment to put together, and making sure a game plays well across different machines is way tougher than anyone can imagine.

If there was a "Make PS3" button, we would've been tempted to hit that a long time ago. But we wanted to take the time to fix a few things and make sure that the PS3 experience is everything it can be.

The wait has been excruciating for us. We know that the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series has historically been very tightly tied to PlayStation consoles. For me, it was a key game in my career. In 1999 I had just left my first game development job, so I and a few others broke off and started a new studio.

The day we left, we were at...

Video: Sony Reveals Sleeping Dogs Wakes on PS3 Tomorrow

100°
102w ago - Senior Producer Jeff O'Connell has revealed on Sony's PlayStation Blog today that Sleeping Dogs officially wakes on PS3 tomorrow!

To quote: It's been a long journey. Even now, it's hard to believe that Sleeping Dogs launches tomorrow.

It's a little odd given how the game is primarily a single player experience, but I think it's as we start seeing the online leaderboards fill up that the reality sets in: we made it.

It's obviously not the end of our time with the world we spent over five years piecing together, but it definitely marks a turning point - the time when we release a game once named Black Lotus, then True Crime: Hong Kong and finally Sleeping Dogs to you.

From here on Sleeping Dogs isn't living inside a bubble, but instead exists as a part of gaming's ever-growing cultural canvas. How big a part is in your hands - rest assured we have poured our hearts and souls into making our protagonist Wei's world one we feel you will enjoy.

Up to now we've seen a lot of focus on the systems we have crafted - the combat, the driving, the social hub - but we're most excited to see how people receive the story. Wei Shen's triad odyssey is the glue that holds all these other tasty parts together.

With it, Sleeping Dogs goes from being a collection...

SuperBot: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Moves to November

50°
102w ago - SuperBot Entertainment President Chan Park has confirmed today that the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale release is officially moved to November, 2012.

To quote: As you know, we at SuperBot have set high benchmarks for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Our goal is to deliver a fun, well-balanced, and compelling gameplay experience that pays homage to all of these incredible characters.

We also know our fans have high expectations for this title, and to that end, we have decided to move the release date to November 20th, 2012 for North America (including Canada) and Latin America territories.

This will let us spend more time polishing and tuning the game, and it will give us a chance to incorporate some of the great feedback we're receiving from the current limited beta to ensure we are creating the best possible fighting game experience.

While it is our greatest desire to put this game into the hands of our fans as soon as possible, we do not want to do so at the sake of quality. The additional time will be well worth the wait, and are excited to know that our fans will have the ultimate brawler in time for the holiday.

Keep an eye on GamesCom this week, as we've lined up some big announcements that we're sure you'll be excited about. Thanks again for...

Videos: PlayStation All-Stars: Sly Cooper & Fat Princess Strategies

50°
102w ago - Senior Combat Designer Edward Ma at Superbot Entertainment has shared some new PlayStation All-Stars strategy videos today spotlighting Sly Cooper and Fat Princess below.

To quote: We're back this week to share our next two character combat videos for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Today, we're examining strategies for Fat Princess and Sly Cooper with Game Director Omar Kendall.

Fat Princess

Fat Princess, much like Sweet Tooth, is a character who has never found herself participating directly in battle, so one of the challenges for us was to design her play style from the ground up.

Her design has gone through radical changes 0 at one point, we had plans for her to grow larger depending on the amount of cake she ate mid-battle. We made sure to follow character guidelines provided by the producer, one of which is the fact that Fat Princess isn't actually aware of her weight.

We incorporated this into her play style by giving her these graceful ballerina pirouette attacks.

Her loyal villagers are, of course, a key weapon in her arsenal. There were a lot of questions raised from the start: should we let her villagers do the fighting while Fat Princess hangs out in the back?

Sony Goes Hands-On with Persona 4 Golden for PlayStation Vita

250°
102w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein went hands-on today with Persona 4 Golden for the PlayStation Vita video game portable console.

To quote: There's never been a better time to be a fan of the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series.

Persona 4 Arena has just arrived on our shores this week, taking the venerable RPG franchise into 2D fighting game territory (and successfully so).

This fall, one of the PS2′s most highly regarded games is coming to PS Vita with Persona 4 Golden. Even if you're new to the series, as I am, there's never been a better time to get into it.

As a recent inductee into the Persona universe (via Persona 3 Portable on PS Vita), I eagerly took up [Register or Login to view links] on the opportunity to sample a work-in-progress edition of Persona 4 Golden last week.

The first thing you're likely to notice about P4G is how good this game looks. It's not surprising that a PS Vita game would look better than a PS2 or PSP game, but the sharpness and contrast of the visuals on "dat screen" are dramatically better than anything the series has seen.

While a lot of the static character art isn't new (especially that of the Personae, which are largely the same as in P3), the crispness of the screen had me thinking...
