For gamers of my generation, Silent Hill 2 for PS2 stands as a giant in the survival-horror genre. Sadly, I completely missed out on the Silent Hill phenomenon.

But thanks to the advancements of modern PS3 and PSN technology, I can now experience both Silent Hill 2 and 3 in glorious HD this week with the release of the Silent Hill HD Collection.

And speaking of classics, Ninja Gaiden 3 joins the fray this week with a new story, PlayStation Move-enhanced gameplay and new multiplayer modes. Shooter fans should take note of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, which delivers a third-person team-based action set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe. Enjoy this week's The Drop.

Ninja Gaiden III (PS Move Compatible) - Team Ninja aims to change the way fans think about ninja and Hayabusa in this game, and promise that they'll know what it feels like to "cut someone down" through their experiences in the game.

Sony Releases the PlayStation Official Application 1.3 Update

147w ago - Sony Portal Manager Emmanuel Orssaud has announced the release of the PlayStation Official Application 1.3 update today with details below, as follows:

A new update of the PlayStation Official App is now available. With this new version (1.3), you will be able to get all the latest PS Vita News, Games, Peripherals info directly from your smartphone.

From the home menu, you'll get a prompt to discover PS Vita via an augmented reality feature. All you have to do is find a PS Vita logo, zap it and this will trigger the interactive animation.

Hope you enjoy the new version and I'll be back on the blog pretty soon to announce the next big release (version 2.0) which will be the biggest update to the app so far with new features.

Note: PlayStation Official App is compatible with iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S with minimum of iOS 4 and for Android devices with OS 2.1 and above.

PlayStation Official App doesn't support Android devices with small screens e.g. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini.
 

Sony Releases PS Vita 1.52 Firmware / System Software Update

154w ago - Following up on the previous PlayStation Vita System Software updates, today Sony of Japan has released PS Vita version 1.52 Firmware update.

As usual, the Sony PlayStation Vita 1.52 Firmware update is a mandatory install. According to [Register or Login to view links] the PS Vita update is simply another small bug fix.

To quote: "A number of Vita owners are saying via Twitter and blogs and so-forth that the update fixes a version 1.51 bug where the 3G system would not recognize your SIM card."

So far I'm unaware of any visible changes in the system or settings, however, this article will be updated as a change log becomes available on Sony's official [Register or Login to view links].
