Video: Papo & Yo PlayStation 3 Dev Diary: Fantastic Realities

101w ago - Minority Creative Director Vander Caballero has made available the first in a series of PlayStation 3 developer diaries spotlighting Papo & Yo dubbed Fantastic Realities below.

To quote: Hello again! Last time I was here I talked about the redesign of Monster - now I want to give everyone an even closer look at the creative and design process for Papo & Yo in our first-ever dev diary.

Please take a look - you'll get a glimpse of Minority's office, some new ways you can interact with Monster, and even see the first prototype I designed for the game!

If you've been following Papo & Yo's development, you know that the game was inspired by my childhood in South America and my relationship with my father.

But I don't want that to be the only thing that people see when they get to play the game. Papo & Yo is also about a child's imagination, and experiencing "fantastic realities" - transforming the real world into a special world that can both help and challenge you.

I feel such joy when I play with my boy and see him imagining his toys coming to life - I hope that everyone will feel this when they play Papo & Yo.

101w ago - Sony Santa Monica Studio Producer Matt Morton has confirmed alongside a video trailer that Datura blooms today on PlayStation Network!

To quote: I wanted let you all know how excited I am about the release of Datura for the PS3, which will be available later today on the PlayStation Network for $9.99.

I can't tell you how fortunate I feel to be working here at Santa Monica Studio.

We are constantly searching for titles that bring interesting and unique experiences to the gaming community, and having the opportunity to present Datura to you is yet another huge honor.

Datura is the second offering from Plastic, a group of amazingly talented developers in Poland. This project started awhile back, after they released Linger in Shadows for the PS3, which was an interesting step for us as a studio.

We honestly weren't sure how the public would react to an interactive art house project, but our fears were soon laid to rest as our hunch that our gamer were a savvy bunch was proved correct.

In Datura, the player will experience an incredibly unique scenario. As you play Datura, you find yourself in a forest. As you explore this environment, you will be presented with different scenarios in which...

102w ago - Sorcery Creative Director Brian Upton of Santa Monica Studios has shared a video today showcasing the making of Sorcery, which spotlights the magical technology of the PlayStation Move controller.

To quote: This is the first post in a four-part series from the development team about the making of Sorcery.

In this video we talk about how artists, engineers, and designers at The Workshop designed the game to take advantage of the unique capabilities of the Move controller in order to create a completely original spell-casting experience.

While some motion-controlled games feel like you're playing "Simon Says", the gestures in Sorcery are fluid and organic.

Aiming spells and chaining them together into powerful combos requires both creative thinking and quick reflexes. Here's a look...

Sorcery will be available in stores in North America on Tuesday, May 22nd.

Video: Rainbow Moon for PSN: Watch the New PS3 Trailer Now

102w ago - SideQuest Studios CEO Marcus Pukropski has posted up a new video trailer today of PlayStation Network title Rainbow Moon for PS3 fans below!

To quote: Last November, I had the opportunity to introduce you to Rainbow Moon, our upcoming strategy RPG for PS3.

Since then, we have received amazing feedback from all of you. In the lead up to the release, it gives me great pleasure to tell you more about the game's battle system.

You also have the chance to be one of the first to watch the Rainbow Moon trailer.

Although much of Rainbow Moon's appeal is in its exploration and character development, the battles are what matter most.

Akin to our Soldner-X game series, we have taken an innovative approach by combining classical elements with new ideas. An example is the triggering of battle encounters. Random encounters? Yes or no? Well, how about both?!

In Rainbow Moon you will find foes roaming the surface of the planet and have a chance to battle in additional random encounters. The latter, however, are 100% optional and can be disregarded if you so decide.

All battles take place on grid-sized maps and are completely turn based. That's right, just like the good...

102w ago - UFG Game Designer William Ho has posted up a video today showcasing Sackboy behind the wheel in LittleBigPlanet Karting below.

To quote: The easiest part of showing off LittleBigPlanet Karting is just getting to play it outside of United Front Games.

We don't make fun, fresh, addictive games just for ourselves. We make them for you, your friends, your brothers, your sisters, Little Timmy and even for Crazy Uncle Larry.

So it's incredibly important for us to get the game in the hands of real people - real gamers - like we did in Los Angeles last week.

Thanks to everyone who came from the four corners of globe to get hands-on time with LittleBigPlanet Karting. Merci, France! Gracias, Mexico and Spain! Spasibo, Russia! Cheers, Australia! No worries, Canada!

It was great to see smiles for every drift and every jump, every big air swing with the Grappling Hook and every on-the-spot slapfight. Our new Battle Mode was definitely a hit.

"Garden Grip", a race course that lovingly pays homage to the very first LBP level, opened everyone's eyes to how beautiful Craftworld can be in full 3-D. And "Future Perfect," a race course that captures the joy...
