126w ago - It appears yesterday's rumor is now true, as today Sony Portal Manager Emmanuel Orssaud has confirmed the Official PlayStation App is coming soon to iPhone and Android handsets!

To quote: I'm very happy to finally be able to announce on the PlayStation.Blog that we will launch the Official PlayStation App very soon.

The app will be available to download for iPhone and iPod Touch with OS 4 and above, and most Android compatible handsets with a minimum of OS 1.6.

In version 1.0 you'll be able to:

• Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends' games and online status.
• Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.
• Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation.Blog.
• Share your favourite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.

The first version (1.0) will be available in the following countries: UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands.

126w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has posted up a video today of Killzone 3 meeting the PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter on the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: Last week saw the introduction of the PlayStation Move sharp shooter, an upcoming peripheral which transforms the PlayStation Move motion controller into a sleek assault rifle designed for hardcore shooters such as Killzone 3 and SOCOM 4.

The sharp shooter's feature set is extensive, so I went hands-on to learn more about its functionality and (surprisingly easy) setup process. Guerrilla Games Managing Director Hermen Hulst and I field tested the PS3's new weapon of choice.





Developed with input from the FPS experts at Guerrilla Games and Zipper Interactive, the sharp shooter is a snap to assemble: you secure a navigation controller into the foregrip, then fasten the PlayStation Move motion controller into the "barrel," which connects to a small digital port on the bottom of the PlayStation Move called the extension connector.

It's been a busy few weeks on the PlayStation Network with several big announcements and new apps launching.

In the month of November alone, we announced the launch of the NHL GameCenter Live application, the availability of Hulu Plus outside of PlayStation Plus, the VUDU app on PSN, and BBC America programming in the PlayStation Store.

We've also shared a new episode of The Tester 2 each week and just last week we announced a number of new games on PlayStation Home, as we marked the 2-year anniversary of the platform.

And, in addition to the PSN updates we've shared, there have also been a number of new updates for PlayStation Plus subscribers and new features in the PlayStation Rewards program.

There's no doubt that PSN is in the midst of tremendous growth as we continue to expand our entertainment offering. 127w ago - Just over a month ago Adafruit Industries offered and paid a bounty for an Open Kinect Driver, and today German site VideoGamesZone.de (linked above) reports that running homebrew Kinect applications may soon be possible on PS3 via OtherOS and API OpenNI drivers.

To quote, roughly translated: "Kinect for Xbox 360 might also operate on the PlayStation 3. Thanks to recent API OpenNI Drivers for Windows and Linux could allow PS3 consoles with older firmware with the OtherOS function also Kinect Underground.

The drivers allow access to all Kinect functions. Both the depth sensor and the audio and video capabilities of Kinect would theoretically available on the PlayStation 3.
