Fantasy RPG Runemaster Makes Console Debut on PlayStation 4

50°
7w ago - EPOS Game Studios CEO Olof Gustafsson announced today that Fantasy RPG Runemaster is making its console debut on PlayStation 4.

Below are the details, to quote: Some pretty exciting news coming out of Gamescom this week! We at Paradox Interactive and Paradox Development Studios are bringing our upcoming role-playing game Runemaster to PS4.

There are a lot of 'firsts' to note here. This is the first role-playing game developed entirely by Paradox Development Studio, a group best known for its deep historical strategy games, like Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV.

It's also the first time that a Paradox developed title will be designed with both PCs and a current generation console in mind. Paradox Interactive has already announced that Magicka 2 will be coming to PS4, so 2015 will be an exciting year for Paradox and Sony.

What is Runemaster? As befits a Swedish developer, Runemaster is a fantasy role-playing game set in the exciting and darkly tragic world of Norse myth.

Drawing on Viking sagas and the Eddas of Viking bards, Runemaster tosses the player into the chaotic worlds of legend - Midgard, Jotunheim, Niflheim, and so on - as the universe threatens to come to an end. Ragnarok could be coming and the player can choose to prevent this world-smashing...

Surgeon Simulator is Out Now on PlayStation 4, Gets Co-op Play

50°
7w ago - Sony Community Manager Poppy Byron announced today that Surgeon Simulator is out now on PlayStation 4 and includes co-op play!

To quote: January 28, 2013. That was the day we put the first build of a silly little game jam project onto the Internet for anyone to play.

It was a run of the mill game jam project for me, and my fellow teammates, James Broadley, Jack Good and Luke Williams. But the aftermath saw our little medical-themed toy turn into a real grown-up full game.

The development process of [Register or Login to view links] has been like a constant game jam. We would implement our ideas without a second thought to the game's overall design.

Leaving little details like balancing damage levels and timings until later, just concentrating on what we thought would be cool or fun for the majority of time. For example, once the game was in full production, one of the features I remember implementing first was the notepad in the reception that you can draw on, not exactly essential for the game but fun to make.

This kind of unplanned structureless attitude has continued throughout the entire project. It's an extremely fun way of developing. It has its caveats and wouldn't...

Wild Sheep Introduces PS4 Exclusive WiLD Coming to PlayStation 4

50°
7w ago - Wild Sheep founder Michel Ancel officially introduced PS4 exclusive WiLD coming to PlayStation 4 today at Gamescom 2014.

Below are the details, to quote: Hello! My name is Michel Ancel, you might know me best as the creator of the Rayman series, and Beyond Good & Evil for Ubisoft.

I co-founded a new independent game studio in Montpellier, France along with a bunch of very talented guys and gals. We call ourselves Wild Sheep and together we are working on an exciting new game called... WiLD (working title).

When we started working on WiLD we wanted to make sure that we would have fun playing our own game even after months and months of development! This is the reason why the world of WiLD is the size of Europe, with dynamic weather and seasons, and filled with interactive opportunities that feel endless.

Every time you play you'll discover new things, even in the same place as before. But... the best feature came from our prototyping phase when we started playing as wolves, horses, sheep and... even trout! So we decided that in WiLD every creature should be playable, even the giant and dangerous ones!

All these features combined, open so many new gameplay situations, especially when playing online. How you approach the game is up to you, what you do and even...

XDev Announces Hustle Kings is Coming Soon to PlayStation 4

100°
7w ago - XDev Associate Producer Neil McPhillips announced today that Hustle Kings is coming soon to PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: We're excited to be able to announce the return of [Register or Login to view links] as it makes its way to PS4.

For the PS4 release of Hustle Kings we wanted to try something new to freshen up the franchise and we really wanted to focus the game to be a better online experience. With those goals in mind we've created a whole new structure for the game and have gone to work adding new PS4 exclusive features and touches.

First things first though, to ensure there was a large online community and lots of people available for matches we made the game downloadable for free so everyone with a PS4 can get it.

We've done this by creating a core package that includes all the basics you need to enjoy the game, we have a practice mode to get you started, a career mode to put you through your paces and earn you some starting money and the new League mode where you can compete online and rise through the online tiers.

In the League everyone starts out at the bottom and must earn their way to the top, access to higher play tiers comes from winning games and reaching career cash goals, the higher the tier...

Video: Bloodborne: Gamescom 2014 PlayStation 4 Gameplay Trailer

50°
7w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman shared a new Bloodborne PlayStation 4 gameplay trailer video today straight from Gamescom 2014 below.

To quote: The PlayStation Gamescom press conference is over, but the story is just beginning for Bloodborne - the new PS4-exclusive action-RPG being developed by From Software and SCE Japan Studio. See the latest below.

Just think. This week in Cologne, Germany, thousands of lucky gamers will get a chance to go hands-on with Bloodborne while the rest of us pursue fruitless endeavors like working, sleeping, and bathing.

For now, we'll have to make do with rewatching this video over and over while frantically scanning our RSS feeds for incoming hands-on editorial previews that should begin flowing tomorrow.

Check back here on PlayStation.Blog later this week for more information on the gameplay features being revealed this week at Gamescom. And maybe, just maybe, some hands-on thoughts of our own. See you soon!
